If you get triggered by talk of sexual assault or graphic content, please do not read further! This poem could be distressing to some readers and I would hate to upset you guys! I decided to share this because it's almost a weight off my chest, I had to write it down to get it out of my head. I also wanted to show anyone who's experienced something similar that you are not alone. Any assault survivors who may be reading this, you are beautiful and loved and you are not broken, even if it feels that way. You are not disgusting, you are not tainted. You are a survivor and you are stronger than you think. Please read at your own discretion, I love you all 🖤
Take your hands away from my skin,
Leave me be, leave me be!
Panic rising,
Cutting off my air supply,
Alcohol buzzing in my brain.Your eyes on mine,
Burning holes in my memory
Lying back, playing possum,
Just don't hurt me.
For the love of god, don't hurt me.Sharp sudden pain,
Exploding in my ribs,
I can't breathe, I can't breathe!
Tears welling up,
But I can't cry, won't cry,
Show weakness and you'll die.I give in, finally.
There's no fighting it off any more.
I'm trapped like a rat,
Burning with pain,
Just waiting for it to be over. Now, in my mind,
It never ends.
