"I'll go, this all seems petty anyway, so I'll go Montauk anyway." I sighed, flopping down on another couch, since the other one was occupied.
Whilst sitting, I scanned the group of teenagers in front of me.
Jason looked guilty, so did Percy. But as long as you bottle up your feelings, no one will know.
This awkward silence had been going on for a while now ...
"Umm ... why aren't we talking?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. I did NOT want them to feel pitiful towards me.
"Annabeth, I just want to ask. Yes, I know this might be too soon, but did you hear everything?" Jason asked, Percy's face a deep shade of red.
If I told them yes, they'd know I heard that Percy said he didn't like me in that way.
I shook my head, feeling devastated when Percy exhaled, like he was holding in his breath.
Then I remembered why I came here in the first place.
"Have you guys seen my book? I can't find it anywhere." I randomly shot up, looking in all the crevices of Piper's too huge living room.
Finally, it was underneath the couch, how'd it get there?
Leo started bursting in laughter, and pointing at me.
I glared at him, then everyone else started laughing at me. Not in a rude way, but like as if I got something on my head.
I looked up and noticed a massive spider crawling on my hair, from my viewpoint I could see the spider's sharp teeth, poised for biting.
Screaming and kicking, I managed to get it out.
My vision started to get blurry, everything spinning and then I crashed.
Mom, get out. I called for her, days and days. But the only thing that came out were small reptiles, snakes and spiders.
The police and emergency services had arrived, and they were looking for my mother.
Thinking and calling out her name, the emergency services came out of the building with a stretcher, and a sound of a female voice groaning in pain.
She died.
A spider had bitten her, and she died.
We came to the reptile house, because I had begged her to go.There was an explosion, you'd think that getting out of that would be har-
"Annabeth, Annabeth are you okay?" Someone was brushing against my shoulders, urging me to get up.
Memories of my mom flashed, and then I noticed Thalia getting engulfed by spiders, then Piper, Hazel, Rachel, Jason, Percy, Leo, and Frank, and my dad.
I started sobbing hysterically, cradling my knees on the cold hard floor.
My vision started to get less blurry, and then I managed to ignore the spider's crawling sensation, repeated over and ove-
"Gods Annabeth, are you okay?" Thalia was now shaking me hard, and then cold water engulfed my red face, bringing me back to reality.
"What are you guys doing?" I asked them, completely unfazed.
Leo then spoke up. "One second, you're looking up. The next second, you've backed out and started crying."
"Oh that? That happens to me all the time. I'm fine guys, let's go back to whatever they were doing."
They each gave me skeptical looks.
Rachel looked down at the floor. "DID something happen with you and spiders?" She barely whispered.
I just nodded, afraid that if I spoke the memories would come back again.
Taking deep breaths, in and out, in and out, I looked at all my friends.
Concerned, guilty, scared, loving. Those were all the faces my friends were making at this very moment, and I loved them for it all.
"Soo, let's watch reruns of Icarly!" I shouted, boosting my confidence, and proving to everyone here that I was stable.
10 minutes later, and we were all bundled up in blankets.
I was sitting on the floor, don't worry it was comfortable. Frank and Hazel on a seat, Piper and Jason on a love seat.
And might I say, although I didn't notice Nico and Leo were sitting on the couch amongst the others, I only noticed Percy and Rachel, Rachels hand on his chest, and his arms mere inches away from cradling her.
I also didn't notice that my eyebrows were furrowed, and my lips formed into a frown.
"Annabeth what's wrong?" Thalia asked, I'd forgotten that she was sitting next to me.
"Hm? Oh yeah, nothing, I just got to go to the bathroom." I hurriedly said, before lifting the blanket off my warm body and trudging off to the bathroom before she could ask any questions.
The light blue tiled bathrooms relaxed me, and the fresh smell coming from the spray.
The mirror, however, disgusted me.
What was wrong with me?
Staring at the reflecting glass, I saw a lovesick girl, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't stop yearning for the boy whom she loved. Her cheeks flushed from embarrassment, and her honey blonde hair uncombed and unkept.
No wonder know one could love her.
I didn't notice I was crying until I noticed the familiar salty taste of tears, dripping down from my cheeks and on to my dry lips.
Piper then came in, crap; I had forgotten to lock the bathroom.
"Oh Gods Annabeth, what happened?" She cried, pulling me into a hug.
She embraced me, and closed the door behind her, so the others couldn't hear.
"Annabeth, if you can't tell everyone, then just tell me." She pleaded, I knew that if I didn't our friendship would never be the same.
Words came spilling out of my mouth, a sense of regret instantly filled my shaking body as soon as I finished, for I had even shown her a small amount of my bruises.
Piper's face had too many reactions for me to list, sadness, regret, anger, shock.
Now, I realised what I had foolishly done.
"Piper, j-just kidding, I don't get hurt. The bruises are from me falling!" I quickly said, fidgeting with my hands.
She looked at me with disbelief. "Annabeth, you need to tell someone. Please, just, just tell someone. Someone that can DO something." She said, eyes shone with tears.
Shaking my head so much it hurt, she finally understood, asking me if there was anything else.
Mustering up the courage to tell her about my pathetic love life, I breathed in and out, repeating this for about 3 more minutes before I opened my mouth to speak about what HE did to me.
