Annabeth's pov:

The hospital had let me out the next day, telling me that I had thankfully healed quickly. I had headed home to see my father and brothers. Although they never knew what had happened, I still wanted to catch up to them.

Knocking on the door three times, I waited to hear someone call my name, or -you know, open the bloody door.

The door opened with a slight creak, just a tiny slit enough for me to see the living room. I narrowed my eyes.

"Dad?" I asked. The person opened the door more, his face still unrecognizable.

"No, I am not your father," he said. "I'm Helen's," he paused. "I'm her 'helper'."

I frowned. "Could you let me in?"

He hastily laughed. "Oh right! Sorry, forgot about that."

I came in, then sat on the small chair, beckoning for him to sit on the sofa.

"Why are you here? Helen is in a mental hospital across the country."

"That's to do with your father not being here," he tried to place his hand on mine reassuringly, but I moved back. "He's gone to retrieve her. I'm afraid her time there is done."

I gasped. "But that's not enough time!"

The man winced. "She has a mental disorder. Gets angry really easily without her medication. 75 percent of the reason why she's been abusive was because of that."

I stood up. "What about the other 25 percent, huh?"

He shrugged. "Past history, or she just doesn't like you. Either way, she is coming back to you guys." He looked up at me. "However, we will need you to leave."

"What?"

"I really am sorry, but she needs to adjust." He acted like as if she was the good person. "Having you here will affect her badly."

"Well too bad, I'm not leaving!" I shouted. "Tell her to go live out on the streets or something."

The man was starting to get impatient. "Miss Chase, you will be leaving today in precisely 3 hours. We asked your father and he said he didn't mind if you went to live in your friends house. That is all." He stood up and left, giving me an apologetic glance before he closed the door.

I sighed, then had a 5 minute silent tantrum. Stupid Helen! Stupid dad! Stupid weird-guy-that-was-just-in-my-home-and-tried-to-be-friends-but-seriously-failed.

Stupid everything, actually.

Walking to my room, I tripped on a discarded Lego piece on the floor. Stupid yellow brick!

I stood up, brushing my hands on my knees then went of to my room, ready to pack. I had to call someone so I could stay there. Piper, I thought.

My phone was on the table, and I quickly grabbed it. Calling Piper, I bit my lip nervously, a habit of mine that I hated. She picked up after a few seconds with her usual bright and cheery voice.

Hey Annabeth! What's up?

"Gods, this sounds really desperate right now, but could I ask you a favour? A really important favour."

"Sure, what's wrong?" Piper's voice was laced with concern.

I fell back onto my bed. "Could I stay at your place for a while? I don't know how long though."

"Of course. Are you coming now?"

I breathed a sigh of relief. "Thanks Piper, I don't even know the amount of favours you've done for me," Her laugh ringed in my ears. "I've got to go now, need to pack."

"Oh ok, bye! But when you come, I'm bringing Hazel and Thalia, oh and Rachel!"

I groaned. "Fine, see you later." I got off the call, putting my head on my hands. I was so done with life, with everything!

I hadn't even bothered to call my dad, not even bothering to ask why he had planned to disown his daughter. Dramatic? Yes, but I really didn't care about anything.

. . .

"Thalia, stop!" Piper shouted at her, clearly annoyed.

Thalia had spent the last ten minutes lecturing Piper on why she is dating her brother. I had never heard so embarassing stories in my life. Me, Hazel and Rachel on the other hand, were both sharing knowing looks at each other, trying not to laugh.

Note how I said trying.

"Anyways," Piper shot a glare at Thalia, who simple shrugged. "We've got more pressing matters to discuss," she pointed at me. "Like you."

I shrugged. "It's not a big deal."

Rachel rose an eyebrow. "Not a big deal? Annabeth, it's enormous." She threw her hands up dramatically.

I rolled my eyes. "I didn't expect my dad to be so caring for such a long time," I shrugged. "It was bound to happen."

Piper's doorbell rang, causing all of us to turn our heads in unison towards the unexpected sound. "You invited some more people, Piper?" I asked her.

She shook her head slowly, eyes starting to narrow. "No one should be ringing the bell."

Thalia shrugged. "I'll open it." She went off to open the door, then came back annoyed. "Annabeth, it's for you."

I frowned, then got up. I turned towards Thalia, she had her arms crossed and a glare emitted on her face.

I walked over to the door, stopping abruptly. "Hello, Annabeth."

I quickly stepped outside, then frantically shut the door so no one could eavesdrop on us. "What are you doing here?" I whispered.

"I want to congratulate you. You saved my job and the country." There was no smile present on her face.

I glared. "No thanks to you."

Her poker face changed. "You should be thanking me for me actually having the time to congratulate you."

I crossed my arms. "I didn't ask for your help."

"Well, neither did I."

My glare intensified. "You're just as bad as Kronos!" I shouted.

Her face paled, and I smiled triumphantly. "Goodbye," I called out before stepping inside and shutting the door on her face.

I could hear her shouts once inside. "Annabeth, come here at once, and take back what you said!" She screamed.

I rolled my eyes, then went back into Piper's room. "I take that did not go well?" Piper asked.

I sighed. "I can't believe she's my mom."

Hazel patted me on my shoulder. "Neither can I."

. . .

After talking, eating and joking a lot, we had finally decided to sleep. I couldn't though, and the sounds of Piper snoring did not help.

This went on for about an hour, until finally my eyes felt droopy, but someone had to ruin it.

"Hey, Annabeth?"

I turned towards the person.

"You still owe me a new canvas."

I threw my pillow at Rachel.
