Annabeth's pov:
"Let's go, c'mon guys!" Leo shouted, his voice annoying me yet again.
"We're coming, and by the way Leo. You don't even know where we are going."
"Touché."
"We cross the road. Literally head to the first alleyway and we're there, right?" Piper asked.
I nodded, then proceeded to go to the zebra crossing. Hey, I don't want to die too early.
"Percy and Jason will be there in about 20 minutes, we need to get there quick." I told them, they nodded.
I walked a couple of metres ahead of them. After a few minutes of walking, I turned towards the two. Leo and Piper were talking in hushed tones. Their relationship, I couldn't get. They were like brother and sister, and I loved it.
Turning away from them, I turned to the left. Bingo, the alleyway was right there. I motioned for the others to come, and they jogged up to me. "What's up?" Piper asked.
"The sky."
I heard a small smack and an 'Ow!' coming from Leo's directions. I inwardly laughed at them, then walked further into the forgotten area.
Just like any other cliché horror film, I called out to the dark. "Luke? I came to talk."
Piper and Leo came out of the alleyway, out of Luke's sight. They were here for another reason. A reason I definitely didn't like.
"Annabeth, you shouldn't have come." A voice I unfortunately knew of came from the end of the alleyway. I couldn't see his face, only his eyes, a shade of gol- gold?
Since when were his eyes gold?
"Can you come out?" I called.
Luke came walking in from the dark, his blonde hair stuck to his face.
"What do you want to talk about? About stopping me, Annabeth I don't want to hur-"
"You don't want to hurt me? That's not what you said back in the hospital."
He clenched his fists. "Listen, Kronos and I are going to submerge, and I need you to stop getting in my way."
"Submerge?"
"Yeah," His eyes softened, but they were quickly shrouded in anger. "Kronos created a machine that can make two people's bodies into one. That's why we've been stealing from tech companies. We needed them."
"You and Kronos? What, you're just going to give your body to his like you're an object?"
"He needs it. Kronos's body is too weak, too old to function. I was forc-, no I volunteered to give him mine. In return, The Olympians will be greatly punished and Kronos will restore this country to it's glory days."
I stiffened, Luke could die. "You stuttered when you said you volunteered. You were forced weren't yo-"
Luke roughly grabbed my shoulders. "I swear to Gods, if you repeat what you just said. I'll -I'll."
"You'll what, hurt me? I'm sorry Luke but you've already hurt me enough." I whistled loud enough for Leo and Piper to hear.
Just like we planned, Piper came out of the alleyway, she was holding a gold mirror-like blade. Her dad didn't even question her when she asked that. Perks of being a rich kid, I suppose.
I expected Luke to cower, but he did quite the opposite.
"Did you really expect me not to come prepared?" About twelve guards came out of the doors next to the alleyway. They were all armed, yet they were all cramped in the narrow area.
That gave me an idea. I shouted out for Leo and he came out. I reached for his supply bag, and got out the key to this mess. A can of pure nitrous oxide.
Just what I needed, I thought.I opened the canister, but plugged my nose. There was so much in there that if you smelt a tiny bit of it, you'll go to sleep for about a couple of days. Throwing the canister onto Luke and his guards, I shouted for Leo and Piper to run out before the smell reached them.
We ran out of there, and I let out a huge sigh of relief. "That was fun," Leo poked himself. "And I'm not dead. Score!"
It was easy. Too easy.
"We need to go to Frank, Thalia and Hazel," I pointed towards the direction of the donut shop. "We've also got to go to Jason and Percy."
They're probably dead now, my stupid mind said.
Piper let out a small cry, I didn't realise I had said that out loud. "Oh Gods, Piper I'm so sorry! Jason's not dead, and neither is Percy."
Piper smiled, but she still looked deflated. "Yeah, you're right."
Leo wasn't speaking, instead looking at the shop our friends were in. I gasped.
It's door was rammed open, and the whole shop was burning.
"That's the donut shop, right?" Leo asked me.
I nodded reluctantly. The donut shop was on fire, and we had no idea if our friends were alive or not. Much to my relief, I heard Thalia shout my name.
Squinting my eyes, I could see her waving at us, her face coated in soot. I smiled, and me, Leo and Piper ran off to the shop.
I gave her a hug, then demanded to know what happened. "Some of Kronos's guards came in here. But of all the shops they could've went in to, they chose the one we were in. Talk about bad luck, and they had petrol and lighters with them. Once they saw us, they ran out, and badda bing, badda boom. The whole shop explodes."
I grimaced. "Frank and Hazel, where are they?"
Thalia pointed towards a bench where Frank and Hazel were sitting on, probably comforting each other.
I let out a sigh, we were all alive, and most of our things were going as to planned.
Piper frowned. "Jason isn't answering any of my calls, why isn't he answering?"
Leo snorted a little. "You know Piper, when you're in a life or death situation, I'm pretty sure you're not going have enough time to check who's calling you."
Piper's cheeks coloured. "Whoops."
We laughed, then turned our heads instantly. I heard a shout.
Looking further across the street, the unmistakable sound of sirens deafened my ears. The ambulance, fire brigade and police were here.
"Let's get out of here, shall we?" Thalia said.
"Hey, wait for us!" I heard a familiar voice call out from behind me.
Percy and Jason were standing behind us, smirks evident on their faces. The only thing confused me was that Percy was wearing armour, ten sizes too small.
"You're alive!" Hazel said, and Jason chuckled.
"Last time I checked, yeah." Percy muttered.
I smiled at him, then gave him a bone-crushing hug. "You're not hurt, are you?" Percy scanned my face.
I pushed him off of me. "Hurt? Percy, you and Jason should be the ones getting asked that!"
Percy shrugged, "it was pretty easy for us. Didn't meet Kronos though."
"Why?" Frank asked.
I turned towards the police that were gathering here. "No time guys, we need to go to the Empire State building."
