Forgot to put in some things in my other chapter, go read it again, then you'll understand this one :)
"Please don't go"
Those few last words ringed into my head as I finally lost conscious. Away from the sickening reality that I'm apart in, and towards the dark void of emptiness, something that I considerably liked.
The silence as I lay there started to peeve my mind. Wake up, I told myself.
Or you could already be dead. My pessimistic side of me said, causing me to dread. Shut up, I told myself.
Great, I'm talking to myself. I'm turning mental.
As I thought to myself these ideas and constantly contradicted myself, my conscious had finally decided to stir.
Though I wasn't sure if I was relieved, or reluctant to drag myself back in.
My eyes fluttered open, and the feeling of something choking me surfaced, causing me to cough badly.
"She's awake!" I heard someone call, assuming it was Thalia.
However, I was starting to hear many other unknown voices. "Keep it down miss, she needs to rest." And other voice saying, "I'm afraid you guys will have to leave now."
Immediately my friends who I had suddenly become aware of started shouting all at once. "You can't do that!" I heard Piper shout.
"She just woke up! I'm pretty sure she wants to see us, not you." Thalia bluntly said.
"At least let us speak to her." Percy pleaded. I slowly smiled in between coughing, Percy was still here.
"Fine!" The nurse snapped. "But please stand back, I need to give her some medicine." My friends immediately went back, all staring at me. I pretended to not be able to see them, I didn't want them to see me hurt.
Immediately, a vile tasting substance was shoved into my throat. However bad it tasted, it did eventually cause me to stop coughing. The bittersweet taste remained in my mouth, causing me to scowl.
"You can talk to her now! But no sudden movements." The nurse went out, muttering some words to herself.
My friends all rushed at me, bombarding me with questions.
"You weren't awake for 2 days!"
"How are you?"
"You owe me a new canvas!" I quickly sat up, looking at Rachel's smug face.
"No, I don't." I bluntly said.
"I hit Kronos in the eye with my brush. Now pay up." Rachel crossed her arms, still laughing.
I glared at her, mumbling under my breath. "They're expensive."
Changing the subject, I asked a question. "Did the police find out?"
Piper hesitantly nodded her head, pointing behind us. "There are reporters everywhere, and the police. They want to know the full story from you."
I winced. "I don't really want to tell them."
Percy put his hand on my shoulder. "We know, told them to leave," he sighed. "But they won't leave until they get their answers."
Leo snorted. "The police did anything but help, now they want to know everything so they can take all the credit."
I shrugged. "Let them."
Everyone stared at me, eyes widened. "We can't do that! I want to be known as a hero!" Thalia arrogantly said.
I rolled my eyes. "I don't want people to know about all this." I waved my arms. "They'll spread rumours, next thing you know we'll be targeted."
"But we'll be famous for a while." Leo noted in.
I sighed. "For a while. Then we'll be targeted by every single ally of The Titans, and this will happen all over again."
Percy nodded. "She's right, we'll tell the police they can say they did it. Then the police will get to the reporters, and just put us in as anonymous. Or take us as themselves."
I smiled. "What he said."
Right there and then, a man came rushing at us, pointing at his coat which was open. He wanted us to look at a gold badge.
"Head chief of the United States Police Unit. You are Annabeth Chase, I presume?" He said, not bothering to knock.
I nodded. "What do you want?"
"We need you to tell us everything that happened. All the nitty gritty details."
I winced at his words. Who says nitty gritty?
"Sorry, I can't really remember anything, must be my head injury and the fatigue." I sighed, hoping he wouldn't go past my lie.
He groaned shamelessly, then went back out, muttering "A bunch if teenagers did what we were supposed to do."
We all laughed. "Didn't seem really thankful, did he?" I asked.
I played with my fingers for a bit, not sure what to say. "What do we do now?" Frank asked.
Hazel looked towards him, then us. "I guess live our normal lives, isn't it?"
We all nodded, though in my head I was disagreeing. Yeah, this nearly killed us. Yeah, it was tiring. Yeah, no one was thankful.
Yet, it felt like I was supposed to do this. When I was fighting, the adrenaline from my ADHD had strayed to burst, finally showing my full strength. And although most times, it pained for me to be like this.
I liked it.
So for all of this to end, no more fighting, no more plan making. No more issues, I was starting to feel empty.
A voice started to stir in my thoughts. Maybe you do need to fight, yet you don't know what. Someday you will, and it is sooner than you think. My face paled. That was not my conscious speaking, it was someone different. Inside of my head.
"You okay Annabeth? Zoned out for a while."
I nodded to Percy. "Yeah, I'm fine."
