"Luke, how does Thalia not know?" I asked him, my voice cracking a bit.
"When the man threw her on the floor, she had a small case of amnesia. Forgot everything that happened to her in the last year." Luke was whispering now.
I nodded, unsure of what else to say. My jeans itched at my sides uncomfortably. They were of a light blue colour. I also wore my favourite grey sweater, topped with a messy bun. As you can tell, I do not care about my looks anymore.
Luke seemed to notice me looking down. "I tried."
He carried on. "I tried to tell her that we met before, that we were best friends, that we hated our parents."
"What did she say?"
"She thought I was trying to manipulate her, so she told her friends," he nodded at me, "your friends."
"Is that why they don't like you?" I seemed angry at this, Luke was a good person, they just HAD to judge.
"Well, I'll tell them that they're wrong, I'll say to the-"
"It's no use Annabeth." I opened my mouth, but he quickly carried on. "Let them think that, but you'll carry on talking to me, right?"
I smiled at him. "Of course, but no matter how hard it'll be, I'll make sure she remembers. That'll be my priority."
"Gosh Annabeth, you're still as stubborn as ever." He laughed, ruffling my hair.
I shook his hand off of my messy hair. "Are you still fighting with your parents?"
Luke's parents were, let's just say, he didn't like them. His mom, May Castellan, was apparently mental, and that affected her son's life.
His dad, Hermes, he left Luke when he was born. Luke never knew who he was, only for him to find out that Hermes was part of the national government, nicknamed 'The Olympians'.
Luke has hated him ever since.
Luke tensed once I said that. "Mom is still delusional, so I usually just stay in my room. It's sad you know?" He breathed in. "Sometimes I'll come back from school and she'll hug me so tight, like as if I was gone."
He started to wipe his eyes before the tears could fall, I quickly engulfed him in a hug.
"Oh Gods Luke, it will get better." I finished the hug, but still held his hand.
"How?" He enclosed his left hand in a tight fist. "I've got a father who'll never love me, and then goes off to become a MULTIMILLIONAIRE, PART OF THE OLYMPIANS FOR GOODNESS SAKE!"
"Gods Luke, calm down." I inched away from him, his anger now receding.
Luke breathed in. "You know, that group 'The Titans', sometimes their views are correct. If they ever want to kill Hermes, they should give me a call." He laughed a little, a cold, hard laugh, matching his personality at the moment.
I quickly changed the subject, I hated it when Luke said that. "Luke, I got to go, but I'll see you next time, right?"
He nodded. Patting his hand in reassurance, I left and speed walked back home.
Opening the door, I heard humming, and my two brothers racing each other down the corridor.
My father was humming a 1990's song to himself, whilst making spaghetti bolognese.
I breathed in the rich tomato smell. Sighing, I closed the door, notifying my dad of my appearance.
"Oh hey, sweetie. Glad you made it back, we're having." He twirled his fingers, like he was a magician, then pointed at the steaming pot. "Spaghetti!"
