I woke the next morning with panda eyes and a bird's nest. I dragged myself to the kitchen and poured myself a glass of juice when I noticed the ripped piece of paper with a scribbled note on the kitchen counter.
Finish at 6:30, be home by 7. Take some meat out of the freezer and do some laundry please. Love you, mum xxx
I threw it in the bin and dug through the freezer. I took out some mince meat and set the packet on a plate for it to defrost. I got myself breakfast and sat myself down in front of Disney Channel .
It was past eleven when I finally decided to get up and do something productive of my day. I got up from the couch and headed over to the bathroom. I still hadn't cleaned my teeth or brushed my hair yet. I turned the taps of the wall mounted shower head, making an awful sound as the water splashed against the bathtub. I climbed in carefully, not wanting to slip, and pulled the curtain, not wanting to flood the bathroom.
I grabbed my shampoo and that's when I heard him, water running on the other side of the wall. I suddenly felt uncomfortable realising we were both aware of each other naked in the shower. I decided to ignore it and stepped back under the water when I heard him mumble. I automatically smiled and stood closer to the wall, trying to make out the words of the song."I think it's time I let my heart out on the line
I think it's time to say what's playing on my mind
I see you out with him and I say that I'm fine
Happens every time, every time"I turned the water off just a little bit to be able to guess the rhythm 'cause I have to admitted I was struggling a little bit.
"I'm sick and tired of playing games
I'm sick and tired of being second place
And I know if I never try
I'll be sick and tired of being sick and tiredDon't take it personal"
I recognised the Vamps and imagined Kit liking and singing one of their songs. I guessed he was more into pop and r&b than country music but it still left me suprised. I rinced my shampoo and decided to lip sync instead of fully joining in.
"Girl, don't take it personal
But personally, I think you'd be better with somebody like me
But worse of all, you don't even see, you don't even seeGirl, don't take it personal
But personally, I think you'd be better with somebody like me
But worse of all, you don't even see, you don't even see"Maybe if I didn't sing to loudly and under the water he wouldn't hear...
"Girl, don't take it personal
But personally, I think you'd be better with somebody like me
But worse of all, you don't even see, you don't even see
Girl"It was only at the end of the chorus that I noticed that the usual male voice that sang with me had disappeared. I stayed silent and so did he. It was Maggie's verse and I knew he wasn't going to sing it. And neither would I. It's not that I didn't want to, it was only out of embarrassment. Why do you care? He's heard you before... Yes but I didn't know him before. He didn't know you before but he's still singing. He doesn't care... I don't care either! I mean, he's just my neighbour, why would I care?
And to prove my point I sang the following verse, Maggie's."You know how much I love it when you call me out
You see it in my eyes, the way they follow you around
'Causw yeah, I like the way you dance
You know I do, yeah I do
'Cause that's just youI'm sick and tired of being friends
I'm sick end tired of being there
And I know if I never tried
I'll be sick and tired of being sick and tired"Once I had finished my part he joined back in and we finished the rest of the song together.

"Hello Emily" greeted the old lady.
"Good afternoon Miss Grace, how are you?" I smiled.
"Very well thank you. How's Harper? Been a long time since I last saw her."
"She's fine. She's on holiday."
"Oh and where abouts?" asked the curious woman.
"Las Cruces, New Mexico."
She nodded and put her glasses on.
"So, what can I do for you?" she finally asked.
"I would like to return these..." I said, pushing I pile of books on the counter.
Miss Grace grabbed theme and placed theme on a small trolley behind her.
"...and borrow these, please" I said, giving her the second pile of books.
I had picked out Perfect Chemistry by Simon Elkeles and Matched by Allie Condie as well as a couple for Harper.
"Sure, can I have you card please?"
I gave it to her and she scanned the books before handing theme back to me.
"Goodbye, have a nice day."
"Thank you dear, take care."
"You too Miss Grace" I said leaving the library.
I put my sunglasses back on and headed over to the small grocerie shop round the corner of the street. I grabbed one of those little trolleys for kids with a flag on and threw in some greated cheese and red peppers ('cause they're the best). I picked up a packet of nut chocolate and started to eat while grabbing the few things missing. I walked over to the cash register, my face stuffed with chocolate and my kiddy trolley, ignoring the strangers stares that followed me until I was out of sight.
