The holidays were sadly over and it was early Monday morning as I walked down the stairs. I smiled as I recongnised our blond neighbour opening one of the letter boxes.

"Good morning Kit."

"Morning Emily" he smiled back.

"Skipping class?" I joked as I noticed his PJ bottoms and bare feet.

"No, I start next week."

"Lucky you.." I muttered as I opened the door.

"Emily, wait."

He didn't stop glancing at the floor, debating wether or not to ask me.

"I'm going hicking with some friends on Wednesday and I was wondering in you would like to come?" he asked while rubbing the back of his neck.

One of the apartment doors slammed shut.

"Yeah sure, I'd love too" I replied, my voice coming out much softer then before.

Running footsteps came from the staircase and Harper was suddenly at the bottom of the stairs.

"Thank you for waiting" she said sarcastically.

"Yeah well if I had waited for you, we would be late."

"Well how come you're still here?" she through before hurrying out of the building.

I felt my cheeks lightly heat up and Kit chuckle.

"See you on Wednesday then."

"Yeah and feel free to bring any friends."

I nodded and noticed the small dimples as he smiled. The door shut closed behind me as I tried to catch up my sister.

I spent the rest of the day all excited, wishing we were Wednesday. I thought about not bringing anyone but it might be awkward to end up alone with his friends. Liv would usually be my first choice but I doubt her parents would let her skip Wednesday seeming as she's got morning classes and afternoon cheerleading.

The bell rang and I hurried out of class hoping to catch Lexi on time. She's normally finished so I go out to the parking and wait.

The second bell rings and I still haven't seen her. I guess I'll have to call her tonight. I slowly made my to French class, I'm already late anyway, when I catch a glimpse of galaxie hair.

"You really should think about finding a room. Or at least lock yourselves in the bathroom."

My voice sounded much louder in the empty corridor and the two girls jumped.

"Seriously Em? You just scared the shit out of us" breathed Lexi.

"Yeah, I know" I laughed.

She pulled herslef away from Ana who was leaning against the wall with her shirt open.

I decided to leave them and go back to class. I'll speak to her later.

I went home hoping my mum was in a good mood. I'm sure she wouldn't mind me skipping a day but I already said yes and didn't ask her. I don't even know where we're going or how we'll get there. I actually don't know what's going on on Wednesday.

On my way home, I scrolled through my contact list but realised I didn't even have his number.

I rang the doorbell and awkwardly stood outside his flat. I waited a couple of minutes before knocking but no one answered. I went home, a little fustrated. I'll have to catch him tomorrow.

I walk into the kitchen and found my mother's usual note:

Please put the potatoes in the oven at 7 pm, I'll do the fish when I get home. Love you, mum xxx.

Along with it was another small piece of paper folded in half with my name written over it.

I realised I didn't actually give you any information about Wednesday. We're going to, met me in the hall at 9, I'll give you a lift.

I grabbed a pen and quickly scribbled an answere:

Thanks, here's my number 404 555 0186.

I folded it back in half and slipped it under his front door.

Unknown number:  Hey, it's Kit

I tried my best to hide the big grin on my face and not to seem to excited as I got up from the sofa and left my mum and sister as I locked myself in my room.

Emily: Hi

I quickly saved his number and sat down on my bed.

Kit: Still ok for Wednesday?

Emily: Yeah, my mum's fine with it. As long as I didn't have to rely on her😂

Kit: Like I said, I'll give you a lift

Emily: Thanks x

I found Lexi's number and decided to ask her.

Emily: Hey, are you free on wednesday?

Emily: I'm going hiking with a friend and wondered if you wanted to come?

Lexi: A part from class, I'm free

Lexi: Yeah sure, what time?

Emily: I think 9:30 at

Emily: Do you have a ride?

Lexi: K

Lexi: I'll ask Jen's bro

Lexi: Who's the friend 😏

I bit lip with a smile.

Emily: A friend...

Emily: His a football player at LKHS

Lexi: Yeah, right, only a friend; a posh football player...😂😂

He wasn't even a "friend", we don't even know each other that well...

Emily: He's my neighbour 😏😂

Lexi: 😏 and have you been to his yet?

Emily: No😕

Lexi: Disappointed I see 😂

We talk for a couple more minutes before I finally turned my phone off and went to bed.
