Tae joined Yoongi and Hobi inside Namjoon's room while the three waited for him to get back from his class. The ticking of the clock seemed to count down every second that passed until the door finally swung open.
"You three again. Great," Namjoon looked tired and slightly annoyed.
"Hello to you too," Yoongi grinned. He had stretched himself out on Namjoon's bed with his arms folded behind his head.
"Whatever. I've spent the entire day outside of classes in the library. While I should be studying for midterms, I was researching the information you gave me. You missed one little detail," he informed them.
Hobi sat us straighter in the desk chair. He spun it around so that he could face the tall man as well. "What detail is that?"
"The best time to attempt to cross over would be on your death day. Not only would Dae be stronger by then, but so would you three."
Tae leaned back against the window and tried to follow along. "So we wouldn't just be using her if we waited, we would be helping as well?"
Namjoon nodded and threw the books on the bed narrowly missing Yoongi. "Right. So instead of leeching off her ability, power, or whatever you want to call it, you would also be an energy source of sorts. Make sense?"
The three agreed in various ways. Hobi nodded enthusiastically, Tae gave a simple yes and Yoongi just said yep. At least one of them seemed to be on board completely.
"Great, now if you don't mind---"
A loud knock from the front door sounded throughout the house. Namjoon exchanged looks with the three before sticking his head out of his bedroom. He looked down the hall to see Dae doing the same.
"Joon! Dae! Get down here," Jin called.
"Are we expecting company?" Dae whispered to him as they made their way down the stairs.
"Not that I'm aware of," Joon confirmed.
Sitting on the sofa was a woman who looked to be in her forties. Her narrowed blue eyes travelled around the room slowly taking everything in before landing on the two who had just entered. Her long thin fingers were barely holding on to the cup of tea in her hand. The shorter more plump woman who had served as their realtor beside her gave off an overly cheery vibe that her companion clearly lacked.
"I can't say that I'm overly fond of what you've done with the place but I'm sure it's still being renovated?" The smile on her lips was obviously fake as she turned to Jin.
He sat up straighter and chose his words carefully. "It is. There have been a few foundation issues from years of neglect that had to be taken care of first before we can get around to the cosmetic issues." There was no amusement on his face as he spoke. He motioned for Dae and Namjoon to come forward into the room.
"I see. Well that won't be an issue. I can make an offer now and save you the trouble," she turned to the other woman and held her hand out of the folder in the woman's hand. "I'll give you double what you paid for the place. That should cover an costs that you've already invested."
Dae cleared her throat finally and stepped forward from behind Joon. "I'm sorry, but who are you?"
The icy blue eyes were directed back to the girl. "Melaia Sinclair. The former owner of this house." Her voice was clipped and direct with an underlying smugness that rubbed Dae the wrong way the moment she heard it. "Not that it concerns. The adults are talking."
Dae blinked in surprise at the way the woman had spoken to her. "Excuse me? I think it concerns me a great deal when someone is wanting to buy the house we're living in."
The woman sneered down at her before looking back at Jin. "Your name is currently on the deed so you'll have to be the one to sign the papers. I can give you to the end of the week to decide but don't me mistaken. It was my late husband who signed over the house though he had no right. The house was left to me. I will get it back." She sat the untouched tea down on the table and stood.
"I'll leave the papers with you dear, you have my number," the shorter woman passed Jin the folder.
"Thank you Ms. Choi. I think it might be best for this meeting to be over." Jin showed the two out. Dae waited until she heard the front door close before speaking up.
"We can't sell to her. You heard what she did! She was a pervert who took advantage of young boys!" Her raised voice caused Jin to stop and stare at her.
"Dae, while I understand that you're upset, you will not stand here and yell at me. The purpose of buying and flipping this house was to make a profit. I'll have to think on this but do not be angry with me."
Unwanted tears started to fill her eyes as Dae stomped her foot and crossed her arms in front of her. "You can't be serious! Jin, that woman is a monster! You heard what Jimin and Jungkook said. She literally fed a child pills to make him look sick. They're still here! You can even ask them but please, please do not sell the house to her!"
Namjoon wrapped his arm around Dae's shoulders and pulled her closer to him. "I have to agree with her. We can't do business with someone like her, at least not right now." He gave a pointed look to Jin.
Jin regarded the two silently before nodding. "Give me a few days to think on it. I don't care for her either but this is a big decision."
-----
The three standing at the top of the stairs had heard everything. They exchanged worried glances while waiting to hear the final verdict. It didn't sound like it was going to be in their favor.
