The next day Aston got up pretty early. He went to the kitchen and ate some cereals. He couldn't wait for Mary's call. He turned on the tv but nothing was interesting enough to make him watch it. Finally he gave up and went outside to swim in a pool. After a while he got out of it and and lied on the grass. He almost fell asleep when he heard his phone ringing.
„Hello?“-he said.
„Hey, it's me again. How are you today?“-Mary asked.
„I'm fine, just got out of the pool. How are you?“
„I'm good.“-she answered briefly. After a minute of an awkard silence, Aston finally spoke.
„So, what happened last night?“
„Well, I followed Adam to the place he said he would be and when I didn't find him there, I drove around town. Then I started going to places he was seen with his ex...“-Mary began.
„And? Did you find him?“-Aston was curious.
„Yes. He was walking down the street with her. I got out of the car because I wasn't sure at first it was him. When I got closer, I saw her kissing him. When he saw me, he stopped the kiss and ran towards me.“-she explained.
„What an asshole! What did you do?“-Aston was angry.
„I got in my car and went straight home. He came after a while and we started arguing. I was so angry that I slapped him“
„Good girl! I hope it hurted a lot“-Aston smiled.
„I think it did. My hand sure did. But after that, when I calmed down, he started apologizing and he explained everything. He said he didn't wanna kiss her, that she kissed him. And the only reason he was there with her is because he wanted to explain her that she has to stop following him...“
„But you didn't believe him, of course“
„Actually, I don't know if I believe him. One part of me doesn't believe him but the other part says I should try to trust him, I'm so confused.“-Mary whispered last words.
„What is there to think about? He's obviously cheating on you! Why don't you wanna see it? I know you love him, but this is sick. You can't be with someone who doesn't respect you“-Aston raised his voice.
„I'm not 100% sure that he's cheating on me.“
„What do you need more? To find him in bed with your best friend? Is that the only way for you to open your eyes?“-Aston became really angry.
„You're being mean now. I called because I needed a friend, someone to talk with. This was a mistake.“
„No, you need someone who'll tell what you wanna hear, well I'm sorry, but I won't. I'll be totally honest with you. Anyone who respects himself wouldn't stay with a person who's cheating on them. But if you want that, it's your choice. I don't wanna have a part in it.“
„Why can't you understand me? I wanna try to save my relationship“
„What is there to save? You just won't admit it doesn't work. You could've had everything with me but you chose not to. And now you just don't wanna admit you failed.“
„I really shouldn't have called you. This was a terrible mistake.“
„It was. Try to be happy with your boyfriend although we both know you're just fooling yourself. Don't call or message me until you come to sense.“
„Aston?“-he heard but he hung up anyway. He couldn't hear Mary's voice anymore. This was it, he couldn't take it anymore. After everything that happened she still rejected him everytime.
„Reesh, what are you doing tonight?“-Aston called him.
„Nothing. Rosie went home to visit her family so I'm alone. Why?“
„Do you wanna go out? I need to get drunk really bad“
„Okay, I'm in, but why?“-Oritse was confused.
„Don't ask, just be my partner in drinking tonight.“
„Okay, see ya at 10“
