„You have some serious explaining to do.“-Aston read the message Mary sent him. He wasn't sure what was she talking about.
„Astooooooon, come down here! Immediately!“-Marvin shouted.
„Here I am. What is it?“-Aston said sitting in front of Marvin.
„You really are stupid. Pray to God this doesn't get to Mary.“-Marvin showed him the article. Aston read it and didn't find anything he should be concerned about.
„So what? It says I went out with some friends.“-Aston defended himself.
„It says you were there 'til late in night and picked up some girl. Some people are saying they saw you in a club later!“-Marv was angry.
„So you're gonna believe them instead of me? You know how journalists are. They make up stories all the time. It was blown put of the proportion.“-Aston said.
„Well, I hope you'll convince Mary. If she sees this while in NY, she'll be upset and dissapointed in both of us.“-Marv replied.
„I think that ship sailed long ago.“-Aston showed him Mary's message.
„You better start thinking how you'll explain everything to her. And stay in for the rest of the weekend.“-Marvin said.
------------------------------------------------------
„Hey, how was the flight?“-Aston asked when Mary walked into the living room on Sunday evening.
„It was good. I'm tired a little bit. Where is Marvin?“-she asked.
„He's upstairs talking to his brother.“-Aston replied.
„Good. We can talk in private.“-she said as she sat on the couch.-„I'm listening.“
„What? What do you want me to say?“-Aston looked at her.
„You can start with an apology. I didn't ask much from you, I just asked if you can stay in for just one weekend and you couldn't make it. You broke your promise.“-Mary raised her voice.
„I don't have nothing to apologize for. I would apologize if I had done something wrong, but I didn't. I just went out for a dinner.“-he responded.
„You went out when I asked you not to. Does your word mean that little? I'm really dissapointed in you“-Mary confessed.
„But I didn't break my promise. Don't you hear me? I just went out for a dinner.“-Aston raised his voice a little bit, too.
„And since when dinner lasts until midnight?“
„It wasn't like that at all. They blew it out of proportion. We weren't there that long, it was about 9:30 when we left.“-Aston explained.
And what about the lady and the club? That's also a lie?“-Mary was sarcastic.
„Yes, it is. I just drove Beth home and came straight home. I promise“-Aston tried to convince her.
„I don't know if I can trust you. I took a bullet for you when Oliver called. I believe in you guys and I want this to work. But if you continue to make me problems, we'll discuss your future very seriously.“-Mary said.
Aston sat next to her.-„I promise I'll listen to everything you say from now on.“
„You better.“-Mary smiled.
„I'm really sorry put you through this. If I can make it up to you somehow, just tell me.“-Aston smiled too.
„I'll think of a way.“-she winked.
