„That's him?-Aston raised his eyebrows. Mary nodded.
„What did he want from you?“
„To get back to him.“
„Are you going to?“-Aston looked at her.
„No way. I'll never be with him again.“-Mary looked away.
„What happened between you two? You never told me“
„I couldn't. I was embarassed.“-she still didn't look at him. Aston turned her head and forced her to look at him.
„You can tell anything. I promise to keep it a secret“
„Ok“-Mary took a deep breath.
„I met him last year at a friends party. We clicked immediately and talked through the entire night. We exchanged numbers and talked to each other every day. Soon, we often went together on lunch or dinner and we ended up doing a lot of things together. Then he asked me to be his girlfriend, and I accepted. It was amazing at the begining. But, soon he changed. He wanted to control me and know every step of mine. He didn't like if I talked with my male friends and he would always argue with me later.“-Mary went silent.
„And you didn't say a thing to him? You tolerated all this?“-Aston was suprised.
„Yes. What's even worse is that I would always find an excuse for his behaviour. I guess I was selfdestructive at the time, or just insecure, I don't know.“-Mary shrugged.
„There is more, right? I feel you're not telling me something“
„After some time, I caught him chatting with some girl. I asked him about it but he just responded that it's none of my business and that it was his old friend. Some of my close friends told me that he's seen in town with other girls but I didn't wanna believe them. He would always find a perfect explanation for everything. And what's worse, everytime I fell for it. I was so stupid“-Mary shaked her head.
„You were in love“-Aston smiled.
„It wasn't love, it was an unhealthy obsession. I can't believe I was so stupid!“
„You were young and in love. Come on, you were only 17 at the time, you didn't know much about love. Don't be so hard on yourself. But if you return to him, that would be insane. He's a bully“
„That's not the whole story“
„There is more?“-Aston furrowed his eyebrows.
„Yeah. One day I went to his place to tell him I've finally decided to move in with him. I wanted to suprise him so I didn't call him and I ended up as the suprised one. I walked into the apartment and saw clothes dropped everywhere. I walked in the bedroom and I saw him and….“-Mary started to cry.
„Shhh…. Don't cry. He's not worth it“-Aston hugged her.
„I caught him in bed with my best friend, well former best friend“-she moaned.
„What? That's sick.“-he rubbed her back.
„I was devastated. I just screamed and ran away. He used to call me everyday so I had to change my number. I couldn't get rid of him. And now that I thought he's finally moved on, he showed up here and tried to convince me to get back to him. I don't want to, I'm scared that he'll do something stupid“-she was still crying.
„He won't. I won't let him. You are not alone, not anymore. If he only tries to do something, I'll deal with him. He won't hurt you again“-Aston was angry at him.
„What if he does something to you? I couldn't bare it“-Mary whispered.
„Don't worry about me. I'm one tough guy, even though I'm short“-he joked and made Mary laugh.
„See? That's much better. You're much more beautiful when you smile“
„Thank you for listening to me, I really needed that. And I can't thank you enough for saving me from Nick. I don't know what would've happened if you didn't come.“-she yawned.
„It's the least I can do for you. Anytime you need someone to talk to, you can turn to me. Now, let's go to sleep, it's been a along day and you're tired.“-Aston lied down and Mary lied next to him. He hugged her as she placed her head on his chest.
„Sweet dreams“-she said as she put her hand around his waist.
„Sweet dreams“-Aston placed a kiss in her hair and closed his eyes.
