Chapter 44

Carina's POV

Every day since I tried bringing Fern to school that day, I leave her with Sebastian who looked more than excited to watch her while I'm at school or at work, and then I pick her up when the day is done. When I handed her to Sebastian, she was already clinged to him like a baby to its mother. He loved her so much, it made my heart ache to see how much she loves the Palaye Royale brothers. I remember when I brought her to their home the first time, she was already running in the living room like a wild little rascal, and we were all chasing her around trying to catch her until Emerson baited her with a chew toy and we caught her all out of breath. The boys told me how she's the sweetest angel they've ever seen, though she's got a lot of energy for such a small creature and we all laughed.

When I saw Nina and Delilah again, I told them about what's happened recently to me, including me buying girl products for the boys and having them help take care of my new dog. When I looked up dog breeds in the library, I showed them both a picture in a book I checked out of what Fern looks like, and they told me she looks so adorable. I promised to introduce them to her later in the day or on the weekend. Del mentioned how she was impressed how the Palaye Royale boys were so indebted to me and they were both moved when I mentioned how they consider me "a part of their family" even if they haven't known me for that long. They told me how I'm like family to them as well, and I told them likewise.

Delilah started talking about the most recent letter she received from her boyfriend Michael, who is serving in the army, and how she became emotional when he described how much he loves her even when their apart and how he literally cannot wait to see her again when its the holiday. She told us how excited she was to introduce me, Nina, and they boys of Palaye Royale to him and show how she's in such loving company while he's away. The way she described her strong commitment for someone she barely sees now moved me so that it made me yearn to hopefully possess a love connection as strong as hers with Michael. She showed us the letter and we all teared up of how much of a heartbreaker he is with his words and we all laughed at how sensitive we are.

"Nina, do you have anything interesting to share?", Del then asked, changing the subject. Nina suddenly turned red as a tomato, and I was curious what made her so embarrassed when Del asked. "Um, well, y-yeah I guess", Nina stuttered nervously. "Yes...?", Del seemed more than intrigued to find out, as did I as we leaned closer to hear Nina better. She turned a darker shade of red as whispered so only we could hear, "I kissed Emerson." Our jaws dropped and we were speechless. to say the least. "You did what?", I tried to say quietly as to not cause a scene. "Yeah, or he kissed me and I kissed him back." She smiled in embarrassment as we gushed over how adorable her relationship with Emerson is. She nodded in agreement how happy we were that she has Emerson to love and cherish.

"Yeah, I'm very happy", Nina said in the middle of the conversation, "The last thing I expected in my life right now was to meet someone as talented and beautiful as a sweet, gentle boy like Emerson. It's funny to me how his brother is Remington who I had a former crush on, but I realized now why it was never meant to be. Remington was sweet, but we wouldn't make each other happy. I now wish I met Emerson sooner and maybe I wouldn't have tortured myself for longer than necessary and have this big, gaping hole in my heart. But, then I met you Carina, and you helped me feel less lonely. Being with Emerson made me feel happy in a way that's strange in a way to me, but I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. He told me I was his angel, and I told him he was my savior."

I was already bawling like a baby when Nina finished that last sentence, and I held her hands tightly and it made her smile even bigger. Del rested her head on Nina's and we just sat in happiness of the glow that was radiating off of her. Then out of nowhere, Emerson planted a kiss on Nina's cheek, instantly making her blush. Me and Del both shouted"AWW!" as Nina looked at Emerson with her hands hiding her blush and Em looked at her like she was the most beautiful creature in the world. We made room for Emerson to sit next to Nina, and they quickly interlocked their hands. "Emerson", I said to him, "I wish you told me that you and my dear friend got very close, I would have given you my blessing." We all laughed, and Emerson slightly blushed as Nina rested her head on his shoulder.

"I'm gonna be honest with you, Emerson", I added, "Nina is a precious and delicate angel I would protect at all costs, and seeing you treating her so sweetly and lovingly, makes me happy to know that she knows she's meant to be loved by someone like you." Nina looked like she was about to cry, and I winked at her to assure her everything I said was true. "That's good to know, Carina", Em remarked, then looked at Nina and said, "I might feel unworthy of possessing a love as great as Nina's, but it makes me feel blessed to know she cares about me just as I do with her." After he said that, Nina leaned into Emerson and kissed his lips. Me and Del giggled as they disappeared from reality and escaped into their own universe within each other as they kept kissing each other and kept their hands intertwined.

OMG!!! I'm just going crazy with the cute and fluffy content! It's just so soul-enriching to write and I personally enjoy making this story wholesome.
