In the middle of April, I was finally able to buy myself my own violin which was my favorite string instrument to play. I had been perfecting my skills in Mr. Birch's music classes for the past two semesters and now I could practice by myself in my own home. The violin was probably one of the only things that my parents forced upon me to like that I genuinely did like because I loved the sounds it made when I played on the strings and how it changed when I moved my fingers. I always believed the violin created music that our hearts ached to hear rather than just our ears. Most people called me boring for liking an old-fashioned instrument rather than a modern one, but I thought it would make me feel refined and enrich my cultural taste in art and music. This would probably be the one thing this town would approve me of, but that's not why I wanted a violin of my own.

I tried calling Delilah again to see if she was okay, but she always left it on voicemail so I'd say the same thing each time. That I'm worried about her and I hope she's okay and if she ever needs to talk to someone, I'm always all ears. She wouldn't get back to me, but time to time when I worked, she was there to buy something but she never went to my checkout for some reason. At least she was still okay, and I would be devastated if something happened to her and she didn't talk about it with me. I asked my other friends if they heard from Del and they tell me that she wants to be left alone. A few check to see she's still in her house and just lays in her bed looking half-dead most days. Magnolia and Georgina told me that the club they usually perform at are threatening to find a new act if they either don't show up altogether or they find a new lead singer. They said they'd rather lose their job and future careers as performers than replace their supportive and talented lead singer who they've known since they were young girls and owe their dreams to.

"Carina", I heard Emerson say from across the basement in the boys' home, "Are you okay?" He was sitting with Nina near the piano, while I sat close to the stairs just thinking about stuff and I must have drifted out of reality when I thought about Del. I nodded and told him, "Yes, I'm okay. Just thinking about things, no big deal." Nina could already tell what I was thinking about, but she was polite and didn't say anything. I brought my violin to show the boys my playing skills and they were impressed by how amazing I played it. Meanwhile, they were working on a song they said they wanted to be their first single to be released as to introduce themselves to their world when they finally get the chance to show who they are. They kept saying something was missing from the song when it sounded alright to me.

"We don't want it to be alright", Sebastian clarified, "We want it to show what kind of musicians we are and that we're not like every other rock band out there. Show that our music is something that no one else can replicate and we have something to offer to world." He went back to his own business with a slight look of guilt on his face at the way he sounded irritated. I wasn't too offended but now I could see their frustration to trying to make this song the way they want it to be. A few more minutes went by, and it was kinda quiet while they were wondering how to make the song better. It was getting too quiet for me so I impulsively got my violin and played a few basic notes that moved up and down and then long notes after that changed as I progressed. A few seconds into the music I played, I noticed the boys staring at me and then I stopped playing. "Wait!", Seb exclaimed as he grabbed his guitar, "Can you play those first few notes again?" I was confused but I nodded and I waited until he played the first note on his guitar and played my violin and five seconds later, I heard Remington start singing:

We live for, we yearn for
The things that we're born for
Yesterday's today's tomorrow

We die for, we try for
The things that we long for
If needed beg steal and we'll borrow

The morning light will lead you
No weapon will defeat you

Winter comes, skies to grey
It's the same old same old everyday
And where it starts is where it ends
I feel your pain
So run the lights, catch a plane
I know you just wanna win
You see my friend
Life is just a game

As the song progressed and I kept matching the intensity of the music, the boys had this look on their face like they finally found something they were looking for. They were so deep into the song they were playing, it was hard not admire their passion for the music they make. I couldn't help but enjoy what I was making as my playing got stronger and I re-positioned my fingers to change the notes and moved my bow slowly and then quickly to make the song as powerful as it's supposed to be.

Oh, let me live it now
Oh, let me feel it now
Oh, let me break it down
I know, I see, that this ain't the end for me

Oh, try to stop me now
Oh, I will hit the ground
Oh, I will turn around
I do believe that this world ain't done with me

Winter comes, skies to grey
It's the same old same old everyday
And where it starts is where it ends
I feel your pain
So run the lights, catch a plane
I know you just wanna win
You see my friend
Life is just a game

When the song was over, we were all sitting in stunned silence and then wild grins grew on our faces. "That was...", I started and then Nina finished for me, "AMAZING!!!" We all laughed and then we all gathered close and Sebastian said while taking my hands in excitement, "Carina, that was exactly missing from our song: strings. It's perfect now and we owe it all to you!" I blushed as they told me how grateful they were they I helped them find what they were looking for, and then Rem put his arm around me and told me, "You just might be a better music producer than I originally imagined, Carina. You're amazing." My blush deepened as he kissed my forehead, and then I asked him and his brothers, "So, what's the song gonna be called?" They looked at each other and Emerson answered, "Morning Light."

*GASP* OMG!!! Yes, I threw in one of my favorite songs ever by Palaye Royale, and this chapter shows one of the main reasons I love the song so much. I'm a sucker for string instruments and hearing them in Morning Light was one of the main reasons I love hearing that song every time. We're getting close to my 100th chapter in this story and it's going to be extremely special!!! Won't be the end of the story but just wait to read Chapter 99 to see what will happen... 😉😉😉
