Chapter 84

Carina's POV

One morning toward the end of February, Sebastian called me and told me that he and his brothers wanted to introduce me and Nina to their lawyer, Rachel. I was surprised when he said that because one, I didn't understand what made meeting their lawyer so important, and two, he asked me and Nina specifically. Nevertheless, I happily accepted and he said, "Awesome, can you pick up Nina and then come meet us at our place in about an hour?" I responded, "Sure, I'll see you later, Seb. Bye." He said bye before hanging up and then I finished my breakfast. I showered and prepared myself for meeting and important figure such as a lawyer. I hoped to make a good impression as being a close friend to the Palaye Royale gang. I left Fern with one of my classmates who loves dogs and then I drove to Nina's home and explained what was happening today before she got in the car and we drove back to the brothers' home.

When we got there, the boys were waiting outside and then they all got in the car and sat in the back. "So, you'll tell me where I'm going. Right?", I asked looking back at them. "Yeah, its just in a different part of town", Emerson answered, "We'll guide you carefully so you don't get lost." I followed their directions carefully and did my best to not panic so much as well entered a part of town I had never been in before. It was much farther away from where I lived and it seemed more lavish than everywhere else. There was a house in the middle of a block and that's where I was asked to pull over. The house seemed big but home-like, like for a big, simple family. I imagined a lawyer would have a mansion or something, but I guess not this one. We got out of the car, and the boys went ahead of me and Nina.

They stood before the front door of Rachel's house, and then they pushed the doorbell button. We waited only about five seconds before I heard the door being unlocked and when it opened, we stood before a beautiful woman with the kindest eyes I've ever seen and pretty brown hair that fell to her shoulders. "Hello, boys", she starting speaking in a gentle voice, "Its nice seeing you here today. Its been too long." Then she spotted me and Nina standing behind them, "I see you brought visitors. Who are you, young ladies?" I don't know why, but hearing her call us "young ladies" made me smile and blush a little. Rem motioned for us to come closer, and so I came closer to them a bit nervously and then Rem took my hand securely. "Carina, Nina", he said after Nina came closer to Emerson, "this is our lawyer, Rachel. Also known by her real name Stephanie Rachel Cowper, our mother."

I looked at Remington after he said that last word and was frozen where I stood. I was in shock of what was actually happening, and it was hard for me to believe. They brought me and Nina to meet their mother who is also their lawyer? I wasn't sure what to feel to be perfectly honest. "Carina, are you okay?", Remington asked in concern. I hesitated but I managed to nod and respond with, "Yes, I'm fine. I just wasn't expecting you to introduce me to your mother." I turned to their mother, Stephanie, and reached out my hand to shake while telling her, "Hello, Mrs. Cowper-" "Oh, sweetie, call me Stephanie", she told me while shaking my hand. "Oh, okay, Stephanie. My name is Carina Wisteria and it is an absolute honor to meet you." She beamed brightly and I reciprocated her joy. Then she turned back to Nina and shook her hand, "And you're Nina, correct?" Nina nodded and smiled before stating, "Yes, Miss. Nina Moon. Your sons are the loveliest boys I've ever met in my life."

She invited us inside and I was still in shock that I just met the boys' mother who is honestly the sweetest woman to ever exist in this world. We sat on the couches in her living room and I couldn't believe how simple she lived with her profession. She explained to me and Nina that after her boys got into trouble stealing goods and valuables, she became a lawyer and used her power to keep them protected from the law and grant them some immunity to a certain degree. The highest price to keep them from getting thrown in jail was that she could never be close to them to avoid suspicion that she was related to them and suffer the same hate and prejudice they constantly receive. She says its really hard for her to be so far away from her family, but she says its worth it if it means they live in peace and keep working to be able to reach their dreams as rock stars.

"I'm so sorry, Stephanie", I said after she finished talking, "I can't imagine what it must feel like to not be able to see or hear from them to keep yourself out of danger." She smiled and rested her hand on mine and told me, "I still see them once in a while, and they call me almost every day. Remington never stops talking about how beautiful you are, Carina." "MOM, DON'T SAY THAT!", Remington complained in embarrassment and I laughed as I blushed in how he's told his mother about me. "And Nina", she said and Nina's head shot up in curiosity, "Emerson describes you as a living work of art and that you inspire him to continue creating." "Wow, Mom. Thanks for keeping it a secret", was Em's reaction as Nina blushed furiously and smiled widely.

"Sebastian, what happened to-?", Stephanie stopped as she saw how sad Seb looked when she was about to mention his ex-girlfriend, "Oh. I'm sorry, Sebastian." He looked like he was gonna cry but then he smiled and said, "Its okay, Mom. She got what she deserved." He glanced at me and I gasped as I remembered what I did to her. "What does he mean, Carina?", she asked me with curious eyes, making me admit what I did. "I may or may not have violently taken revenge on his ex after she broke his heart because no one should hurt the people I care about." I closed my eyes in fear she might see me differently and be appalled, but then she asked, "was she scared of you after?" I looked at her again and apprehensively nodded, which made her laugh. We all started laughing then and Remington pulled me closer to him where he was sitting on the couch and wrapped his arms around me while also kissing my head.

"I love you, ma chérie", he whispered quietly in my ear, his voice sending shivers through me. "I love you, too, mon chérie", I whispered back as I cuddled up close to him in his tender embrace. "I can't believe you let me and Nina met your mother", I said looking up at him. He smirked and kissed my lips sweetly, I could feel my face getting hot in his warm embrace, then he pulled away and stated, "You're much too important in my life to not be included in my mother's life." I turned red as a rose when he said that, and he winked before planting a kiss on my cheek. I smiled brightly at him and then I felt another set of arms wrap around me only for me to find it was Stephanie. "I'm so happy my sons have people to love them. Thank you, Carina." The smile on my face grew bigger as she hugged me tightly and then hugged Nina whose face was flushed as well. This kind and beautiful woman would probably be the closest thing I get to a caring and sweet mother.
