Hellfire (Pt I)

My heart sank to the floor, and I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes. I tried to keep them in. If I left now, it would end up becoming this whole thing that I don't think I had the patience or the energy for. No, I had to time my escape right. Josh sensed me tense up, but wasn't really sure what to do. 

"Um, Jake?" Josh asked. 

"Yeah, I uh, guess so." He said, hesitantly. He didn't dare make eye contact with me. 

Josh did the only thing he could without making a spectacle himself. 

"Nice to meet you, I'm Jake's twin, Josh." he said, extending his hand out to her. 

Instead she went in for a hug. "It's so nice to meet you." she said

Jenny introduced herself and me because I wasn't even sure I could form words right now, I was in such disbelief. I gave her a little wave, and a meek smile. She didn't even bother to hug Jenny or me. There was awkward silence for a minute, so Jenny and I offered to get everyone drinks. Okay, Jenny offered but I tagged along because I would NOT be left in that situation without her. 

***JOSH'S P.O.V.***

"Hey, uh, Jake can I talk to you a minute? Sam had asked me to ask you something earlier and I just forgot" I asked, trying to be slick. 

"Yeah, sure. Jita, you should go talk to Kenzi, she's Danny's girlfriend. I think you'd like her." He said, pointing to Kenzi. 

She kissed his cheek and obliged. 

"What?" he asked me, nonchalantly. 

"Are you out of your fucking mind?" I asked, quietly.

"What?" 

"Y/N loves you you idiot, and bringing her here is not helping you get her." 

"Y/N never said she loved me, she is going through her own stuff right now and she doesn't need me around adding to her stress." 

"You can't honestly believe that. Jake, she feels insecure you dipshit. She needs you now more than ever. You have to just be a man and stop messing with her fucking feelings. I'm sure Jita's great, but she's not for you man. You're going to end up hurting them both if you don't figure your shit out." 

"I don't know, man. Jita really loves me and I think I might actually be falling for her. I don't want to cause more trouble in Y/N's life than I already have. Plus, we're leaving in a few weeks and we had only made the pact for the summer. That's what SHE wanted. I'm not going to force her to confess her feelings, but I feel like I deserve someone who is crazy about me and willing to show that." 

He walked away, not allowing me to respond. 

***YOUR P.O.V.***

I couldn't even talk to Jenny, but she knew how hurt I was. We went straight to the bathroom and I just sobbed to her. She shushed me and stroked my hair. After about 5 minutes of full blown sobbing, I splashed cold water on my face and took a deep breath. We grabbed drinks for everyone and started to walk back. We saw Josh and Jake talking and it looked kind of intense so we just eavesdropped (I was curious, leave me alone). 

"I don't know, man. Jita really loves me and I think I might actually be falling for her. I don't want to cause more trouble in Y/N's life than I already have. Plus, we're leaving in a few weeks and we had only made the pact for the summer. That's what SHE wanted. I'm not going to force her to confess her feelings, but I feel like I deserve someone who is crazy about me and willing to show that." 

He walked toward Jita and slipped his arm around her waist. 

I turned away from the party, and looked at Jenny. I wasn't sobbing, but I felt tears rolling down my cheeks again. She didn't bother to try and stop me as I ran out as fast as I could, not bothering to look back.
