*Same Night*

"What do you mean? D-describe my family? Aha, no, I will not." I said, rudely declining to answer his question.

"Jay, calm down." Dani touched my shoulder in an attempt to calm me, I shrugged it off.

"Please don't tell me to calm down." I turned my attention back to the officer,  "Why do you need to know about my family?"

"You just need to describe your family for me, ma'am." He finalized.

"Do you know where the people were transferred?" I asked, completely ignoring him.

"At the trauma center downtown, but-"

I immediately took off running after that. I didn't know if my family was in that accident, but I know that I damn sure was not about to wait around for them to die if they were. I had a really bad gut  feeling about everything, but I had to just tell myself that it was just all in my mind. They were calling me, but I was ignoring them. My main priority was to get to my family.

"Jaylen!" Colin yelled out after me.

"What?" I finally answered.

"Slow down!"

He caught up to me and grabbed my arm, "Get off of me!" I tried to snatch away, but his grip was too tight. "Not until you tell me what's going on."

After I snatched away, I said, "If that's my family that was in that accident, I'm not gonna be here wasting my time describing them when I can be with them!"

"And if it's not them?" He tried reasoning. I just shook my head and started speed walking to my car.

"Wait," he looked around, "let's at least take my car, yours isn't safe." I just glared at him, "Alright?"

I nodded.

*At the Hospital*

The ride to the hospital was no doubt the longest ride that I ever had to sit through. So  many possibilities were running through my mind, making everything that much worse. I tried telling myself that it wasn't them or it wasn't that bad if it was them. But, somewhere in me, I had this gut feeling that I was completely and utterly wrong.

"Excuse me?" I asked the hospital receptionist.

"Yes?" She looked up from the computer screen.

"Hi, um, do you have any patients here by the last name 'Harris?'"

"Uhh.." She clicked the keys on the keyboard and something popped up on the screen, "First name?"

"Uhh, Darren, Helen, Nikki, or Megan."

Her eyes roamed the screen before answering,  "Actually, yes. Who are you to them if I may ask?"

"I'm the daughter/sister." I said urgently.

"Okay, well, I have a patient in here by the name of 'Nikki Harris?'" She looked up to me expectantly.

My heart dropped. It couldn't be my baby sister.

"Can I have the r-room number, please?"

"Yes, room 213."

I sprinted towards the elevator, not even waiting to see if she had anything else to say to me. I mashed the elevator button multiple times so that the door would open, but it was like everything was in slow-motion. So I took the next resort.

Stairs.

I looked for a staircase to go up, and I was getting frustrated because I couldn't find one. But then I pushed open a heavy door, and the most beautiful thing that I've ever seen came into my view.
