*Two Years Later*
Guy: Jay, hurry up over there! We need you!
Me: Could you wait a second, please?! I'm almost done!
He grunted, I rolled my eyes, and we got back to work. I grabbed a high chair out of the corner for the people with a baby needing it, and I handed it to them.
Lady: Thank you so much.
Me: Oh, you're welcome.
She smiled at me, and I smiled back.
Me: Your waiter will be here in a few minutes to take your order, okay?
They nodded.
Me: Okay.
I touched under their baby's chin, and walked away from them. I walked back into the kitchen of the restaurant, and it was even more hectic and crowded in there. I know that it's a Sunday, but I expected people to be at home, cooking their own meals.
Guy: Jay!
I groaned, and turned to him.
Me: Yes? (I said through gritted teeth)
Guy: You have one more time to disobey my orders!
Me: Disobey? I didn't even do anything!
Guy: Why didn't you come when I called?!
Me: Because I was working! But I'm here, aren't I?! So just shut up about it!!
I could see he was getting madder, but I didn't care. All he does is stand around, and yell and scream at people all day, and I'm tired of it.
Guy: I am your boss, so you better respect me!
Me: Well, you aren't my father, so you better watch who you talk to!
Guy: You're fired!
I took off my apron.
Me: Good, asshole! At least I don't have to be around you anymore!
Guy started walking towards me like he was going to do something, but one of the cooks in the kitchen stood in between the two of us.
Kyle: Whoa, whoa, whoa! What's going on here?
Guy: Her!
Me: Him!
We said simultaneously.
Kyle: One at a time! Jay, you first.
Me: He's mad because I was doing my job.
Kyle: Which was?
Me: Seating our customers, and making sure everything's in order, which I was doing.
Kyle: Guy?
Guy: She always walks around here with an attitude, and she never does what I tell her!
Me: Well, can you blame me for not wanting to lick his ass?!
He grunted.
Lexi: Would the both of you just shut up?! You're arguing like little kids over a fucking toy! Jay, you come with me, and, Guy, you go with Kyle!
She grabbed onto my arm roughly, and pulled me outside. We went onto the side of the building in the shade to get some privacy.
Lexi: What the hell was that?
Me: I don't know.
I folded my arms, and leaned against the wall.
Lexi: Bullshit, Jay, I know you, now tell me what's wrong.
