Part 1 (written)
Whatever the concoction was, it sure wasn't blood or flesh based. It looked more like a paste than anything. Hopefully Tony could stomach it down, or in the least stand the sight of it.
Gary huffed and made his way back over to Solomon and "Cornelius"'s conversation. Tony seemed to be dozing off as Gary approached.
"Did you get lost on the way here?" Solomon chuckled.
Tony snapped back to reality and looked back over at Gary.
"To a degree, Your Majesty," Gary huffed," Cornelius hasn't been raised on flesh like the rest of us, so it was most difficult to find something not based of that." Gary handed Tony the glass.
Tony's face turned pale, though you couldn't tell much by the already white powder on him. He dared not bring up the glass toward his face.
"Oh.. Quite true. Well, there's no trouble with starting now, as is that you do want to unlock your potential," Solomon took another sip from his glass, looking intently at Tony.
Gary looked nervously at Tony. "He's not going to do it," he thought.
Tony looked down at the glass. The mix looked like a dark green mixed with small floating bits of what closely resembled moldy bread. Tony was staring at it.
"He's never going to drink tha-" without another second thought, Gary saw Tony take a swig out of the glass. Gary was astonished.
Tony, on the other hand, looked like he was about to hurl the concoction and whatever meal he hand for the past week up.
"I'm surprised you picked that first for him to try, Gary," Solomon chuckled, "Everyone I've seen usually stays away from the Gallbladder mix."
At hearing this, Tony felt much worse than he did. He propped himself against Gary, holding onto him for dear life.
Solomon laughed heartily at the sight. Gary nervously laughed alongside him. Tony, while feeling like death himself, was confused at the whole spur of laughter.
"You're definitely going to be a ton of work, Cornelius. But, that's going to be fun of all of it. Go lay down for a bit. I have business to attend to," with that Solomon turned around and went on his way. He looked over his shoulder and chirped, "Don't forget to bring him along for the festivities tonight, Gary."
Gary turned pale. He paused and looked down where Tony was. He wasn't there anymore. Before he could have a heart attack, he saw Tony hurling into a potted plant behind a pillar. Gary looked back up. Solomon had already disappeared in the crowd. Gary let out a nervous sigh and walked over to still-hurling Tony.Part 2
After a few minutes of loosing all the meals Tony had eaten that week, he slowly began to get back to his normal self. He hung on the side of Gary as the two made their way to their room.
"... exactly why did you give me that- whatever that drink was.." Tony coughed up.
Gary huffed, "I thought it was something else- everything there was blood or flesh based.."
"..... truthfully I would've preferred a glass of blood than that. At least I know what blood tastes like.." Tony sighed. "And I don't appreciate you laughing at me either."
"I was trying to lighten the mood with the royal pain back there. He thinks stuff like that is funny."
"Well I don't see any laughing matter in me loosing my past month's meals."
"It's a lot to explain. There's quite a bit about Vereins you don't know."
A few more minutes of small chit chat later, and the two found themselves at their room. Gary opened the door to reveal a giant room unlike any other room he's seen. Big, spacious, plenty of lovely furniture— you would never know the whole building was once an insane asylum.
Tony sprawled over to the nearest chair he could find and tossed his wig on the ground. Gary took off his coat and flopped on the couch.
"So you gonna start talking about back there or?" Tony looked over at Gary who was doing some sort of yoga stretch mix.
"What is there to talk about?"
"Oh, I don't know, how me hurling up a lung somehow didn't blow our cover?"
"It's a Verein thing, Stuart. When Vereins are young, they get fed both humans and human food to get used to both. Baby Vereins don't really care much for human food. Yet in your story, since you never had anything "human" based and only their food, Solomon thinks you just need time to get used to it."
"If I hurl again, then what you said is why."
Gary chuckled and reclined back, "As far as we are, we should be good though. We just can't make any mistakes."
"Easier said than done.."
"Just act cool, don't sweat it."
"This is coming from the guy who didn't hurl up a lung five minutes ago."
The two chuckled.
Tony sat up in his chair and rubbed his head, "Who was that girl earlier anyway? You said she was an old friend."
Gary grew quiet, "Well, really an "Ex" friend."
"Oh.. Something happened then?"
"I.. don't really want to talk about it right now."
"Oh, sorry for asking."
"It's no biggy, just I don't feel like talking about it right now."
Tony reclined back in the chair. He stared at the designs in the ceiling.
"Wonder if those two had anything.." Tony pondered. He was so lost in thought he didn't notice he was starting to doze off. Soon he was fast asleep.
Gary, on the other hand, had fallen asleep quite some time before.
