Chapter 8
Maggie's POV
"Good morning everyone, I'll be your History teacher, my name is Mr. Mellark."
"As in... Peeta and Katniss Mellark?" Some girl asks in a way too girly tone.
"Yes," he smiles. "Yes, I am their youngest kid and they're only son."
"Wow, no wonder why you're our history teacher. You have two people who lived in history as heroes." She gushes.
"Thank you, so let's get started." He says. "Can anyone tell me when and why the dark days started?"
I raise my hand.
"Yes, Ms..." he checks a paper to make it seem legit. "Odair?"
"Yes, Maggie, Odair. They started in the year 2092, and they started because of separation of the states."
"Thank you, Maggie." he says.
I smile a little, I wish I could be normal around him right now.
"Does anyone know what year the Capitol government system was established?"
A strong looking kid with wavy coffee-brown hair and brown eyes raises his hand.
"Yes, Mr..."
"It's, Neal. Neal Sacker. And the year they created the government idea was later in 2092, but was officially established in the year 2096."
"Very good, Neal. And does anyone know what year the games were started?"
Almost everyone raises their hand.
A girl with beautiful curly blonde hair and bright blue eyes outlined in a variety of makeup raises her hand.
"Yes, Ms..."
"Ms. Mellark," she flirts.
"I'm flattered, but I'm actually seeing someone,"
I smile a small smile, while all the girls sigh, and he smiles a little at me.
"My name is Audrey, Audrey Blank." She says. "The games were made in 2154, after the war."
"Good," he says. "And this is more of a math problem, but what year did the games end?"
"2229," I whisper.
"What was that Maggie?"
"The year, 2229,"
"Correct. I've made a timeline worksheet for all of you and you can fill in the ones we just talked about as well as the other ones on here. You can work in groups of 2-4 or individually. If it's not completed, I'm afraid it's homework."
"Hi, I'm Neal," Neal says.
"Maggie," I say.
"Wanna work on this together?" He asks.
"Uh, sure."
"So you're parents are Annie and Finnick Odair, huh?"
"Yeah, they are." I say. "Who are your parents?"
"My Mom's name is Sarah and my Dad's name is Jerry. They knew your parents."
Yeah, they're the jerks that betrayed my mom.
"Yeah, I heard from my parents the downfall of their friendship was rocky."
"Yeah, it was. My parents relationship was rocky, still is. They were off and on all the time as kids, they've already divorced once and gotten back together. I don't get it, it's stupid."
