Chapter 12
Darius's POV
"He may have beat you to the punch, but you definetely won the fight." Maggie tells me, making me thankful that I waited for someone like her.
Of course there were other girls, none I was paticularlly interested in, but they were there. They asked me out, and I'd politely turn them down, and it wasn't because I was totally against dating, I just knew they weren't what I was looking for. And Maggie was worth waiting for, and the only flaw I found out was that she dated a guy she wasn't really looking to date, and that's okay. It's a mistake and it's not like they were even serious. Sometimes I just wish she didn't have her first kiss with him. But that's okay too. I knew any girl I found was most likely do have dated at least one person before me. It's unrealistic to set the expectation that you're going to meet someone whose never been with someone else before. I just worry with Neal, he seems kinda clingy with Maggie. But I trust her, and if she says they're friends, and he's probably interested in Kayla, I believe her.
It's good she hasn't told Kayla, even though they're best friends you never know, if they got in a fight or something, her first idea of revenge would be telling people about Maggie and I. Not that I think they'd fight, or that Kayla would do something so evil. But at the same time, you can never be too careful. And I know Maggie won't tell anyone without letting me know, because she wouldn't do that, and if she did tell someone, I know she'd tell me about it.
I smile at her, "I'm just glad that you two weren't still together when I came. Things would probably be different then they are now. And if I had the opprotunity to change my life, I wouldn't change anything about it, because I probably wouldn't meet you."
"Why do you always beat me when it comes to sweet things to say?" She asks, we laugh a little. "Seriously, you're so much better at talking than me."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, I never talk about my feelings to anyone. Well, I didn't until I met you." I smile a little, "Like at District Twelve, when I was actually open about how I felt about my parents. I never would've mentioned it to anyone, but with you I feel like I can say anything about me, or my feelings and you'll listen, and not only listen but make me feel better."
"You can always come to me, and I know I can come to you too. You're easy to talk to," I say.
"I wonder when my parents are gonna get back." She says. "I don't think they really wanted me going out, since it's getting dark and all but I wanted to go to the beach with you. If you're up for it."
"I don't want you to get in trouble,"
"Oh, I won't. We both will." She smirks a little. "What'd you say?"
"I say you're crazy. And I'm even crazier for going with you."
She laughs a little, and runs upstairs to get ready, I throw the dishes in the sink, and run up there too. I go in my room and throw on a t-shirt and bathing suite. Maggie comes out of her room with a cover up over her two piece bathing suite.
It's weird, it's a cover up, but I can see her bathing suite.
Must be a girl thing.
"Ready?" She asks.
"Ready," I say.
She holds my hand, and we climb down her window so that they don't notice us from Kayla's house. This really is crazy. Of course I've snuck out before, I've gone to school events like dances, and I'd go with some friends to have fun. And I've gone to a few parties throughout my last two years of school. I was caught once, but the punishments were barely anything. My parents may seem strict, since they've been through a lot and "know the true dangers of the world", but in reality, they're softies and hate punishing us. So they give us a little something so that we learn, and it's over with. No grudges held, just forgive and forget, and move on.
