Chapter 2
Finnick's POV
I don't even know how to react. I helped beat the Capitol for many reasons, one being my own freedom. From Snow, from the women that forced me to cheat on Annie. Annie. Put on a strong face for Annie. Don't tell Annie how you feel. Don't make it harder for her. Be there for her until the time comes when I might have to leave her. I love her so much it hurts to even envision this. I might be taken away from her. From Finn. From Maggie. From Angie. And my unborn child. Why did this happen to us? Why did this happen to her? Out of all the people on this world, my sweet Annie has to go through this. She doesn't deserve it. She's gotten so much better but I know this will break her. It will. Unless I find a way to stay and win against Alexa and make sure she doesn't come near me, Annie, or our kids. I just don't know how yet.
"Annie, I promise we'll figure this out just like we do with every other difficult situation we've ever been through. She will not win. You know I won't let that happen. No matter what happens, you'll be okay." I say.
"You think it's my own safety that I'm worried about? I'm worried about our kids, our baby, and you. I worry about you the most and it's almost impossible to think I might have to let her take you. Please don't make me. I don't want it to come to any of these decisions, I either have my baby taken away from me or my best friend. Don't leave." She says.
"Love, it might have to come to that. But I'll still come back. I always come back."
She nods, "You know your confidence about winning doesn't make me any optomistic right?"
I smile at her, "I know, but it's worth a try."
"Just so you know, it will be impossible for me to give you up."
What if Annie doesn't give me up for our baby? That would be horrible. Alexa would have our child forever, Annie would do it, feel guilty right after. She would say that she's a horrible mother, a horrible person. But then again, won't she do the same thing if she gives me up?
I don't even want to think about it.
"Annie, I don't wanna say this again. So please, just listen to me. Don't get rid of our baby for me."
She cries and throws her arms around me. "Don't make me give you to her,"
"Annie, are you actually considering giving her our child?" I ask. I know she loves me, and that's why she's doing this, but I couldn't live with myself, and I know she couldn't either.
She cries, "I can't give you to her. I can't. So that's only one other option left, and I feel horrible for resulting to it, but I can't choose against you."
"Annie, you can't choose me. I'm sorry, but you can't. You have to choose our baby. Okay?"
"No. Not okay." She says. "Don't you realize I could never live with myself if I ever gave you up?"
"Don't you realize I could never live with myself if you gave up my baby for me?"
"Finnick, I don't see any other option."
"It's not up to you Annie. You're making the wrong decision. The baby stays. I go."
"What, so you want to go with Alexa?"
"My god Annie! You think I wanna leave the baby? You think I wanna leave Maggie, Finn, or Angie? You think I wanna leave you? It's completely stupid to even think like that considering I don't want to leave. I want to be here when this baby grows up and walks and talks and laughs. But you're so... I don't even know... You're too worried about me. I'll be fine and I'll come back and you don't understand that. If you give up our baby, we'll never see him or her again."
"Can you blame me for thinking like that? Considering your little crush that you had on this psycho path?"
"Don't even go there! It wasn't even a crush! I was suffering from loneliness, and she was the only one I could talk to and I thought I could trust her. She doesn't mean anything to me and you already know that. You just bring it back up to make me feel worse about the whole situation. Like it's my fault she's out to get us."
"In all fairness, if you never hung around her she never would've been plotting against us because she wouldn't have fallen in love with you."
"So now it's my fault?" She doesn't say anything. "Fine. More reason for me to pay the price, then."
