The Ridewatch Hero (Kamen Rider Zi-o x My Hero Academia)

Ch.16 - The Cavalry Battle! Part 1

Everyone eagerly awaited for the next challenger after steadily arriving through the gate.  42 people passed the qualifier round, so the rest were kicked from the next round.

Midnight raised her hand, which had a weird brush-like object in it, as she hyped people up to announce the second round.

Again...how is this age appropriate? Ryou thought to himself. Doesn't she count as partial nudity?

He was also thinking about the last round.  As it turns out, he didn't want to bust out every Ridewatch he had.  However, he ended up showing 4 Ridewatches.  Taddle Legacy he showed off to Todoroki and Class 1-A, and he used OOO's, Chaser, and Fourze Cosmic.

That meant he had two left.  Which he would try not use until later on.  He wanted to try to not make himself so predictable and easy to counter.

"The second round of the U.A. sports festival will be..." Midnight raised her...object, whatever it was, towards the board. "A Cavalry battle with the top 42 from the qualifier!"

A Calvary battle?  That's odd.  How was that going to work...?

"Izuku Midoriya, who placed first, is worth ten million points!"

Everyone turned to Midoriya, not with glaring eyes, but those eyes of competitiveness burning into his soul.

I see...so even if you win first place in the first round, it can hurt you immensely in the next round.   Interesting strategy they're using. Ryou thought to himself. Oh crap, that means I'm worth a lot too.

Midnight continued on to explain the rules.  How the game worked was that in fifteen minutes, the players had to grab as many points possible from the opposing teams until time ran out.  The team's point total was that of each member, how they placed in the first round.  The riders would wear a headband, consisting of the number total on their foreheads.  However, the more they stole, the harder it would be to take more.  If the team lost their headband, or fell, that didn't mean they were out.  And quirks could be used, but nothing to intentionally make the Calvary of another team fall.

With that, Midnight set the timer. "Now, you have 15 minutes to build your teams.  Start!"

Ryou had to think fast.  Everyone was already building their teams immediately, talking about with classmates and such to see what they wanted.

Ryou snapped his fingers, and ran forward to one particular individual who was standing alone, almost having a mental breakdown, who he quickly tapped on the shoulder to ease him up a little.

"Hey, nobody is choosing to be on your team, right?  Probably because of the whole ten million points.  How about we team up?"

Midoriya turned around to see Ryou fully smiling at him.  Midoriya nearly started to cry with happiness, overjoyed that someone would choose him.

"Ryou!  Thank you so much!  I don't know what to say!"

Ryou sweat-dropped, and rubbed his head. "Don't mention it.  Figured you could use all the help you can get.  Plus, it's better if friends team up, right?"

Midoriya nodded in agreement!  "Exactly!  For teams, it's best to be with people you can communicate with smoothly, right?"

Ryou grabbed Midoriya's hand and shook it. "I couldn't agree more."

Just then, Uraraka came up to the two as well.

"Deku, Ryou!  Let's be a team!"

Ryou carefully moved away from Midoriya as he started crying waterfalls again.
