"Attachment leads to jealousy. The shadow of greed that is. Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose."

~Yoda

"You ready for tomorrow?"

The sun was slowly setting as Luke and Ava were walking alongside the sea. The girl made a scoffing noise and shook her head.

"We're literally walking on the most deserted beach around and yet 17 people wanted to take picture with you already and you're asking me if I'm ready to literally dive head first into crowds of thousands of your fans?"

"Why do you hate our fans so much?"

There was bench near and Luke jogged up to it and sat down, his eyes pointed at Ava. She reluctantly sat down next to him.

"I don't hate them. It's just...some of them are pretty intense. Do you know how many posts I've been tagged in just in the past hour? And most of them are about me dating you like please."

Luke fake pouted and Ava rolled her eyes smilingly and punched him in the shoulder.

"You're not my type Lukey. Sorry."

Luke made a scoffing face.

"Yeah right...I'm not Mike."

Now Ava didn't feel all that playful anymore. She dropped her arm into her lap and met Luke's eyes.

"Don't pin this feelings on me. You are the one in love with your best friend."

"First of all, I don't know what I feel and second of all, so are you. Or at least you're falling in love."

Without saying anything, Ava turned her head and looked at the sun setting.

"Do you know what colors the sunset?"

"Huh?"

"Well when you see the sun near the horizon, the light has to travel a longer path through our atmosphere to reach you. Tiny particles in our atmosphere tend to scatter the smaller wavelengths of light on the blue side of the spectrum, so when the light takes a longer path, only the longer wavelengths can penetrate: red, oranges and yellows."

It took some time for the boy to absorb what Ava was saying and even then, he did not understand.

"I don't understand-"

"Yeah, neither do I."

Ava saw the look in Luke's eyes change as he got the point she was trying to get across. He might had understood his feelings and not science, but for Ava it was the opposite. She was able to go on forever about insignificant things such as the coloring of the sunsets or expressionism paintings but thinking what she felt was never a thing she was good at. But to be fair, she never needed to know what she felt before because she never felt much anyways. Sure, she felt feelings but they weren't anything significant. She was able to just push them aside and think whatever it was tough with her brain. At least until then. The recurring thoughts of the green eyed boy made their way into her brain if she wanted it or not and for the first time in forever she felt like she wasn't in complete control over herself. And that, she didn't like one bit. So they sat there in silence for what seemed like ages before either of them spoke another word.

"We should probably get going."

"Yeah, yeah...we should."

The boy stretched out his arm and Ava took it as she got up. The sun was set and night was crawling over the sky as they walked back home. Just as Ava was about to go to her room, Luke took her arm and prevented that from happening. She looked into his eyes and he smiled weakly.

"I know it's difficult for you to feel this way about someone but you should embrace it. If you find yourself in love or attached to someone it's a beautiful thing."

The blonde girl shook her head as she replied.

"First off I don't believe in love and second..."

Ava took a deep breath before continuing her statement.

"Buddha once said attachment is the source of all suffering so..."

"You can't describe everything with a quote."

"I can try. Goodnight Luke."

The door closed and Luke just scoffed before walking into his room. Meanwhile, Ava slid into her bed thinking about how many quotations she had memorized. One for each occasion probably. Then a timid bell rung and Ava read the message displayed in her phone.

"What do you want your final words to be?"

The blonde stared at the screen for some time before replying.

"Waking up on the other side of reality."

The drummer responded instantly.

"Music was my lifeline."

It was fitting for Ashton since music was the thing that made him who he was. Just as Ava was about to put down her phone another message popped up and it was not from Ashton. It was from the green eyed boy. She opened it and it was a video of him playing the guitar with a caption: Just something I came up with right now

Everybody's got their demons

Even wide awake or dreaming

I'm the one who ends up leaving

Make it okay

See a war, I wanna fight it

See a match, I wanna strike it

Every fire I've ignited

Faded to grey

But now that I'm broken

Now that you know it

Caught up in a moment

Can you see inside?

'Cause I've got a jet black heart

And there's a hurricane underneath it

Trying to keep us apart

I write with a poison pen

But these chemicals moving between us

Are the reason to start again

At the end he made a dorky smile and the video ended. The song he sang was so emotional and beautiful that even Ava felt it, and that right there was rare. She watched the video time and time over again before even replying half an hour later.

"You just came up with that?"

Michael responded in a matter of seconds like he was waiting.

"Yeah...what do you think?"

"It's beautiful honestly. I like it."

"Great. I'll show the others tomorrow when we land.😊"

"Wait you sent it to me first? Why?"

"I knew you'd be honest and I guess some inspiration came from you."

"What do you mean by that?"

"Nothing big I guess just some of the feels like jet black heart is pretty possible what you have if you even have a heart."

"I'm not heartless you know..."

"No but you try really hard to be."

Instead of responding, Ava threw her phone on the other side of the room and buried her face in all the pillows she had. Why did the words of a wild skittles affect her so much? Why did she allow herself to care about not one, not two, but four boys who happened to be famous and would more then a hundred percent leave her life just as fast and unexpected as they came into it. Why did she allow herself to get attached?

"You don't get to choose if you get hurt in this world but you do have some say in who hurts you."

Looking at the wall and seeing that quote made her even angrier. If you should be able to pick who hurts you she wouldn't had picked the four idiots. She wouldn't pick anyone. But apparently, you have just as little of a say in who hurts you as you have if you get hurt. With that on her mind the blonde slowly drifted off to sleep.
