"Best friend"

You claim I'm your best friend,

But I still see you with her,

Although she's my friend too,

But not as close as we were.

I've seen the pictures online,

They tear me apart,

Knowing you're out having fun,

Kind of shatters my heart.

You hug me, laugh with me, and talk to me too,

You say I'm you're best friend,

But I don't think like you do.

My teacher once said,

"This word is thrown around a lot.

And is often misused."

Reminds me of what you tell me,

But I don't listen to you.

You barely invite me,

When you're going with your friends,

I end up all alone,

Sleeping on my bed.

Even at school,

I'm sorta the third wheel,

But you're not me,

Never know how I'll feel.

You're always together,

But I feel as though you don't like me,

I'll always hide how I feel,

To protect your heart, don't you see?

I don't really have a best friend,

But others may think otherwise,

I just have a plenty of friends,

Who see life through my eyes.

They get me, understand me, but they may never be there,

But they'll always have my back, instead of leaving it bare.

I just wanna let you know,

This is how I feel,

Maybe if you were me,

You'd see the pain that's real.
