Stefan had phoned Elena to tell the sisters that Logan Fell was now dead, and Vicki Donovan had completed the transition into becoming a newly fledged vampire. She was currently living at the Boarding House where he could help her control her bloodlust urges, and hopefully convince her to stick to his strict vegetarian diet of Bambi. The rest of Mystic Falls had put out a 'missing person' report on Vicki, and it broke Madeline's heart at how devastated her little brother was.

Damon was back out on the daylight prowl once Stefan had given him his ring back, and Madeline kept her eyes out for the evil vampire, as Jenna made the 'unemployed couch potato' go out and do the grocery shopping.

Of course, there was nothing Madeline was going to pick up for herself so she focused on what the other three inhabitants of the Gilbert house liked: spaghetti, salad, sausages and plenty of cheese.

As she turned down the next aisle, her trolley was seized by a strong hand. Her eyes snapped up and she stared wide eyed at Damon Salvatore's grinning face.

"Hello, Madeline."

"Damon."

He picked up a block of blue cheese (that Jenna loved) and grimaced at it, "Ok, that looks disgusting. Why do humans even want to eat that?"

"It reminds me of mould, so don't ask me."

She pushed her trolley passed him, and dumped a mixed selection of lettuce leaves in the trolley. Damon trailed along beside her, examining everything that she threw into the wire cart.

"What do you want?" She asked, finally having had enough of his stalking.

"What makes you think I want something?"

"You're bothering me."

He placed his arm around her shoulders, "Now, now, Maddie, don't get your panties in a bunch. I need your help."

"Knew it." She said, shrugging off his arm and turning to face him. "What is it then?"

"That fateful and awful night where Logan Fell died and Vicki Donovan became a baby vampire, Stefan was shot-" Madeline gasped "-With a wooden bullet. Now, that means that some people know about us vamps, and I need your help in infiltrating the council to find out who."

"How am I going to help you do that?" She asked, "I want to stay as far away from the Lockwood's as I can."

"Trouble in paradise, Maddie? Tyler an ex-boyfriend?"

"Eww, no." She scrunched up her nose, "I just don't get along very well with Carol. That's all."

"But she's such a dame!"

She narrowed her eyes at him, "So why not go and compel her?"

"She's on vervain."

"Then go and flirt with her. Perhaps she will become taken with 'tall, dark, handsome and mysterious'."

"What is she, a teenage girl?"

"No, but she is a cougar." Madeline brushed passed him again, and made her way down another aisle to retrieve peanut butter (for Jeremy).

Believing Damon had finally left her alone, she was surprised to find him standing by the till once she had paid for the shopping. He collected four of the five bags in his hands, and flashed her his pearly whites.

She scoffed, before grabbing the final bag and leading him towards her car.

"I can smell the blood on you."

She felt fearful all of a sudden, and swallowed nervously, "That's great. Now just stick the bags in the trunk, and leave me alone."

She closed the boot of the car, and found Damon boxing her against the vehicle. Her breath hitched in her throat, and her eyes widened fearfully. "What- What are you doing?"
