Madeline explored the compound, with Hayley, as the three Originals were out doing god knows what to god knew who. The two girls were sitting down in the courtyard, looking at the scan photo of the baby.

"I've always wanted a little girl," Hayley began. "I'd call her 'Hope'."

"That's cute!" Madeline smiled, "Klaus and I haven't discussed names, but my mum was called Miranda and my name starts with an 'M' too, so perhaps we could work with that."

"Don't you like 'Hayley'?"

"No, it reminds me of this girl I hate."

Hayley elbowed the older brunette at the teasing, before laughing herself. They started talking about the wedding, and despite the fact that Hayley hadn't known Jackson long, they were making progress with one another.

"He told me about his childhood and his family, so at least I know a little more about him. I told him about the clinic, and he was really supportive about it." The wolf stated, picking one of the olives out of the bowl on the table. "You know, I have been thinking, about this Promised One-thing...and you said you could see pink?"

"Yeah, what about it?"

"Well, I kind of get that with Jackson. Except, don't get the fluttery heart-thing, like you do. I can feel when he's nervous; when he was telling me about himself he was shy. And I could feel it."

Madeline frowned, "I can't feel any of Klaus's emotions."

"Because he doesn't have any." Hayley retorted, eating another one of Madeline's olives. "Anyway, I just thought I'd see if you could ask Klaus about his half of the Promised One bond. Because if that is what's going on with us, I think I'm Klaus and Jackson is you."

"Of course, I will." Madeline replied, "But another way to tell, I guess, is if he gets into trouble. If someone was about to harm him, you'd have to stop them - without even realising it. And you'd be able to find him if he's in danger. And if he's nervous, right now, you could feel that too. Klaus always phoned me when shit went down in Mystic Falls."

"I might take him to go and see that witch you went to with Klaus." Hayley said.

"Okay, but I warn you now - she's very eccentric, and likes to talk about sex." She sighed, "She'll insist on you drinking her elderflower cordial, and she'll kept saying the word 'gorgeous' as if it's the best thing since sliced bread."

"Noted." Hayley giggled, "Get her address from Klaus for me, would you?"

Their afternoon was soon disrupted by Marcel knocking on the main gates of the compound. "I suddenly find myself unable to enter my house." He said, "Which means I'm talking to the new official owner, and her friend. You must be Hayley; welcome to the French Quarter."

The dark skinned vampire made Madeline nervous, but she had an inkling that he wouldn't harm her. It wasn't the fact that he couldn't get inside anymore though, it was something else. And the way he looked at Hayley too; despite her being a wolf, Madeline was sure that the vampire knew her friend in some way.

"Hello, Marcel." Madeline greeted the vampire, "I'd invite you in but...I don't particularly trust you, no offence."

"None taken," He replied with a smile. "I'd be suspicious of you, if you did. I actually came by to see Rebekah...is she here?"

"No, she's out with Klaus and Elijah...probably up to no good."

"That sounds about right." He chuckled in agreement. "Actually, Hayley, now that I've seen you, I just thought I'd pass on a little warning. Some of my guys aren't happy with a wolf being allowed in the Quarter. I've told them that I've allowed it; what I say usually goes. If you do happen to come into any harm, tell me who they are and I'll deal with them."
