As Madeline arrived home after leaving Damon at the warehouse, she could see someone sitting on the steps of her front porch. She could tell right away that it was Sam, and although she wanted nothing more than to just carry on and head somewhere else - her body had automatically decided to turn the wheel and park in the driveway.

The brunette sat in the car for a moment, and she looked up as her ex-boyfriend bounded down the steps and crossed the front lawn towards her. He rested his arms on her open window, and grinned down at her.

"Hey, babe."

She ran a hand through her hair, "What are you doing here, Sam?"

"I've been thinking about you."

"About how you left me in the middle of nowhere to get attacked by some dangerous animal?"

"You're alive, aren't you?"

Her mouth was agape at that, but she shouldn't be surprised. "Yeah, no thanks to you!" She pushed open her car door - knocking him back a couple of feet so that she had enough room to get out of the vehicle.

"Look, I felt bad about what I did." He said, following her up the front steps, "But you know I have a temper. I didn't mean to shove you, babe. And I really do feel bad leaving you there. Hey, why don't we go to the Grill? Let's have a drink, yeah?"

"No."

"Ah, come on, babe?" He grabbed her wrist before she could head inside her house. "Just one drink?"

"Sam, said 'no'."

"But you'll forgive me, yeah?" He followed her inside the house, and leant against the dresser in the hallway. "You want me to get on my knees, and beg?"

She looked away from him, feeing herself succumbing to his charms once again. "I forgive you." She murmured, "But I don't want to go out with you again."

"So you can give me a booty call, but I can't ask you for one?"

"It wasn't..." She thought back to the day after her birthday, and knew that he was right. "I'm sorry, I just...I needed someone. My birthday basically sucked and I didn't want to be alone."

"See, I'm there when you need me, babe." He placed his hands on her upper arms, and rubbed them in a soothing way. "Will you be there for me? I need you right now."

She felt herself falling for him, but the ringing of her mobile phone pulled her away from making a mistake. "I'm sorry, Sam, but it's Elena."

"Just think about it, yeah? Think about us."

"I will."

He placed a kiss upon her lips, before he left.

"Lee?"

"Maddie!" Elena called down the phone, "Logan is a vampire!"

"As in: Scum Fell?" That explained why he was suddenly not dead!

"Yes!" Came the response, "I've sent Jenna home so that she's safe, I told her that you need her help with something. Don't open the door to Logan."

Madeline scoffed, "As if I would!" Madeline scoffed, "Any sign of said 'Scum'?"

"He's got Caroline." Elena started to cry, "Stefan's gone to find out where they are. I'm so worried, Maddie!"

"Just calm down, Lee. Hero hair will save the day." Madeline tried to reassure her panicked sister, "Tell me what I'm supposed to be needing Jenna's help with?"

"Damon told me to tell her that he's taking you dancing, and you need help finding an outfit." She said, and then: "Are you two dating?"
