The pain had unnerved Madeline, purely because she was told that Braxton Hicks contractions are 'nothing compared to actual labour'. Her mother had been in labour with her for thirty six hours, and Madeline had had the false labour pains for a mere three minutes.

"I'm a wimp, I know." She said, as she put on her makeup. It was the day of Hayley's wedding, and she had just come back from setting up decorations in the bayou. She held her face in her hands as she cried.

"Hold still." Rebekah scolded her, "Do you want me to put this hairpin in your neck?"

The blonde Original had insisted on doing Madeline's hair for her (seeing as she wasn't invited to the wedding, and therefore didn't need to do her own).

"And stop crying, you'll ruin your makeup."

Madeline tried to do as she was told, and she watched Rebekah's face of concentration in order to distract her thoughts from wandering to the inevitable 'push day'.

"Nik is probably going to feed you his blood, when you go into labour, so that you'll come back if you die."

"Oh, how reassuring!" Madeline snapped, "Are you done yet? I can do my own hair."

"Not as good as I can." Came the snarky response, "Just a couple more pins, and I'll be out of your hair...literally."

Once Rebekah was out of the way, Madeline finished up her makeup before pulling on the dress that Hayley had chosen for her.

It fit her like a glove

It fit her like a glove...but it was a little tighter across her belly now than it had been when she had first tried it on.

"Rebekah!" She called, struggling with the zipper. "I can't hold myself in and zip up at the same time, I need your help!"

Rebekah waltzed into the room again, and helped the brunette zip up her dress. "You look pretty." She said, "Hayley's got taste. I'd hate to think what you would've picked out if you were the one to decide. If you and Nik get married, I'm choosing my own dress."

"You won't be invited, at this rate."

"Come on, ladies, why don't we at least try to get along." Klaus called up from downstairs, "Almost time to go, Madeline."

As she began to descend the stairwell, she smiled when she heard Elijah's skilful fingers playing the most beautiful melody on the piano.

Klaus looked her up and down as she reached the bottom step, and offered her his hand. "You look beautiful, my love."

"Thank you." She blushed as she ran her hands over the pale green dress, brushing her hands over her very noticeable baby bump.

"Do we have time for a dance?" He asked, his hands sliding around her waist. "Just the two of us, before someone else sees the princess on my arm."

She hummed in mock thought, as she wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed her chest against his, "Let's see..." She placed a kiss on his stubbled jaw, "I believe your hands are a little low for this music."

"Well, you'll have to forgive me, my lady." He smirked, twirling her around before bringing her back in to his chest. "I cannot seem to keep them to myself, when I am near you."

"You're such a charmer." She rolled her eyes, but laughed all the same.

He produced his signature, sexy smirk, "You didn't stand a chance, sweetheart."

She pressed her lips to his passionately, before pulling away when the music stopped, and Elijah was standing before them. "Come on, we can't be late."

Klaus pouted and Madeline pulled him forwards by his tie for one more kiss before she held up the hem of her long dress and skipped towards the main gates of the courtyard in excitement, "I've never been to a wedding before!" She announced, "I hope there's lots of dancing and- Oh..." She paused, "I can't drink any of the champagne."

"You can have a small sip of mine." Klaus promised her, as he opened the front door. Madeline exited first, and then Elijah was at the car opening the door for her. She sat in the backseat (there was more room for her there), and kept announcing her excitement for the entire trip to the bayou.

"I had always pictured weddings to be the big, white, church she-bang...but the simplicity of the decorations in the bayou and being surround by nature...it's so beautiful and simple and romantic." She said, "I hope those candles I put out don't set fire to the trees."

They arrived at the bayou, and Madeline was glad that Hayley hadn't made her wear high heels, and she had a tan pair of beaded sandals on her feet instead. She lifted the hem of her dress to start walking towards the werewolf camp, which was when Klaus's arm snaked through her own to offer her some support.

Elijah led the way through the trees, and they followed the sounds of music and laughter. Because the Pack had been expecting both Elijah and Klaus, there was no sudden silence (as Maddie had been expecting). Hayley had told her that Elijah was invited to be 'Klaus Patrol' and the Bride-to-Be had reassured the wolves that the older Original was in charge of his brother.

Her eyes lit up at spotting the very familiar face of none other, than Damon Salvatore.

She grabbed her dress to lift the hem as she ran towards him, "Damon!" She exclaimed, throwing herself into his arms. "What are you doing here?"

"The labradoodle invited me." He replied, "I was surprised, but then I thought: oh, my MILF best friend will be there." He looked around them, "I hope you came with Klaus, I'd hate to get in trouble without the cure for a werewolf bite nearby."

"Well then, isn't that the incentive not to get into trouble?"

"Don't you know me at all?"

"Act now, think later? I don't think that's something I'm ever likely to forget." She said, "You're not the only vampire here though, Elijah's here too."

"My favourite Original!" Damon exclaimed, his words dripping with sarcasm.

"When did you get here? I haven't seen the Camaro about."

"This morning." He replied, "And that's because I got a plane. You know this great little thing called compulsion? Why drive for four days, when you can relax and fly first class? The stewardess was delicious."

"You didn't!"

"Oh, I did."

The ceremony was beautiful, and Madeline cried throughout the entire event as she sat on the front row and held Hayley's bouquet of wildflowers (which were handpicked by Mary).

Damon rolled his eyes at his best friends theatrics from the aisle behind her, and gave her an empathic pat on the shoulder as a way of comforting her as he dropped a pack of tissues on her lap. Klaus and Elijah sat to his left (the older Original being peacekeeper, by sitting in the middle).

Hayley looked radiant in a knee length, ivory, floral summer dress. Her hair had been French braided with baby's breath, and she wore a pair of ivory sandals on her feet.

Madeline cried as the couple said their vows, she cried when they kissed, and she cried when they were announced as 'wolf and wife'.

The wolves cheered and howled as the newly weds made their way, hand-in-hand, back down the aisle. It was then announced that the celebratory party was about to begin.

I missed writing about Damon.
