Chapter 24: Talk

Monday 5th week of school; After school

Why hadn't I protested more... We would still have our hearts...

Rapunzel stopped dead in her track as she heard Jack say those four words that broke her heart. But, Jack didnt even notice the heartbreaking face Rapunzel wore. He was too busy waiting for a response to his own feelings.

I couldnt help but not give Jack, Rapunzel or even Elsa any of my direct attention, I stared at Hiccup and he stared right back at me... I could tell Jack wasn't the only one waiting for a response.

I held his gaze with a cold look, I tried my hardest to hide my expression and as he quickly turned back to facing Elsa, I let my face fall.

"I- I just met both of you!" Elsa says frantically looking at the two in front of her. "I-I'm sorry..." She continues but this time she was looking at Rapunzel but she instantly looked away causing Elsa to look even more hurt.

Jack easily noticed her facial shift. "Elsa." He quietly says as he tried reaching for her but she flinched even further away from him. "Elsa-" Hiccup whispered but I without thinking covered my ears so I wouldn't hear him.

"J-just leave me alone, both of you!" Elsa yells loud enough that even i heard it. She looked scared after she said that and quickly took off inside.

We all stared after her for a bit, but the first to move was Hiccup.

"Elsa wait!" He yelled going after her. I closed my eyes as he passed right by me.

As for Jack it seemed as if he couldn't move, like he was stuck.

"Jack, aren't you going to go?" Rapunzel asks, her voice was low and quiet. Jack looked over at the two of us as if he barely noticed our presence. "I-I would but its not my place..." He says burrowing his eyebrows and looking down.

"What are you saying you're going to let your love rival get the upper hand by leaving her alone with him right after your confession?!" Rapunzel yells making Jack jump up a bit in surprise.

"N-no!" Jack stutters. "Well then...GO!" Rapunzel yelled pointing to the open courtyard door. Jack uneasily nodded and ran past Rapunzel without even the minimal clue she had feelings for him.

As I heard the sound of Jack steps fade into the distance I faced Rapunzel. "Why'd ye do that?" I asked in disbelief. But as soon as I asked, I knew the exact reason she made Jack go after Elsa. It was the same reason I hadn't moved when Hiccup had left after Elsa.

"I just don't want him to be sad, I want to see him smile even if its at someone else." Rapunzel solemnly says sitting down on the floor, momentarily flinching at the coldness.

I honestly didn't know what to say, so I sat with her and didn't leave her alone, Rapunzel had done the same for me just a few seconds ago... I'll be here for her.

I sighed deeply and then looked at my friend, "What do you want to do?" I asked. She looked at me and smiled.

*Elsa*

As I ran I heard footsteps behind me, I knew they belonged to Hiccup, I heard him scream after I left the courtyard. I slightly looked back to see he was approaching fast.

I tried running faster, but, he was faster than me... As I saw a corner nearing me I developed a plan to get him off my heal. When i turned the corner I momentarily stopped and put a small layer of ice on the floor. I'm sorry Hiccup.
