Chapter 27: Culprit

Tuesday; 5th week of school

"Anna!" I screamed as I busted through the door, throwing my arms around my sister. She seemed shocked at first but quickly adjusted and hugged me back while giggling.

"You scared me!" I exclaim as I untangled myself from her arms. "I'm sorry, in all honesty I should have spoken up, huh?" She said smiling and looking away embarrassed.

"I'm fine." I say smiling. "Right." She said smiling back.
"Do you know why the lights are off?" I ask looking around the kitchen. "No idea." She said looking around with me.
"Where's Mom?" I ask. "Out shopping maybe?" She answered as she went to reopen the pantry again, instantly opening a bag of chips. She kept looking in the pantry even after she had begun eating the chips.

"Is there any -"

"Chocolate? No, sadly." Anna says finishing my sentence. I blinked and laughed out loud almost forgetting about all my worries.

Anna instantly turned around shocked, "W-what?" She asked as a smile creeped up on her. "No, I'm sorry." I say in between laughs. "Its just been a long time since I had chocolate." I say remembering how me and Anna used to eat it 24/7 as kids.

"Really?" She asked. I nodded and sat down at the island. "Hey, I'll be back." Anna says as she began inching towards the stairs. "Right?" I said questioning her. But I was reluctant to let her go.

Before I could think of anything my phone buzzed terribly in pants pocket. When I got my phone out I realized it was a message.

Jack: Hey Elsa (:

I was surprised to receive a text message... I rarely messaged let alone messaged Jack.

I stared at the phone unsure if I should respond. Well it'd be rude not to..

Me: Hey.

Was that too bland... I should add a smiley face...

Me: (:

Oh no...was that too much? I bite my lip, quickly locking my phone's screen, shaking my head and pushing my phone away.

Yup, texting is not for me...gets me to anxious. I breath out and look up at the dark ceiling.

*vibration*

That was fast...

Jack: So, uhm. What'cha up to?

Okay... That's so casual, I say to myself smiling at the phone.

Me: Sitting in the kitchen of my house. Its dark.

Oh gosh... I text so awkwardly.

"Elsa!" I hear Anna as she appeared from the hallway.

"What's up?" I say going up to her. She laughed, "When did you get so hip?" Anna asked hitting me with her own hip. I smiled at her and sighed, "I guess the groups way of talking is rubbing off on me."

"The 'Royalties', right?" Anna says fiddling with something in her hand. "Hey, what do you have there?" I say nearing her.

She smiled huge, "Oh just..." She slowly showed me what was in her hand. "Chocolate!" I exclaimed as she handed me it.

"I had some stashed away." Anna said giggling. I quickly opened it to find my favorite chocolate of adolescence.

"Hey, Elsa..." Anna says capturing my eyes. "Yeah?" I looked over as she made circles on the counter with her finger.
