Christon

You ever wished you could slap the fuck out of somebody without any intentions of apologizing. This was my current mind state. I brought my mom for support, and because I thought it was right she meet the other grandparents. However, Mrs. Swank was blowing the hell out of my sober. I was pulled out of my thoughts by Mr.Swank.

"Christon I hear you own a couple of restaurants in and out of Miami. How did you manage all that at such a young age?" he inquired, while staring at me hard.

I cleared my throat to get my response together. My dad always taught us you should never show anybody weakness. Then they feel you aren't capable of the task at hand.

"Two restaurants were left to me in my father's will. The other three I opened after I obtained my degree. Its not a struggle to maintain them. Its what keeps a roof over my head, and my family fed at the end of the day." I stated, while smiling a little.

I watched as he shook his head and a smile slowly crept onto his face.

"I like you son, and I think you'll be a great father, and husband to my babygirl." he remarked, with a chuckle.

"You do plan on making her a wife?" her mother questioned, with her eyebrow raised.

"There is nothing I would rather do than to make Jenn my wife, but I cannot make her marry me if she isn't ready for that type of commitment yet." I replied, with a smile.

"Or are you afraid of the commitment of being a real man?" her mother questioned.

Okay that was it. I was over, and done with this so called dinner. I was about to open my mouth until my mother cut me off.

My poor son has been biting his tongue all night trying to make sure he was nice to Jennifer's mother. Jenn has had to hold his hand, or give her mother a stern look all night. She was about to feel the wrath of a woman that was in labor for 9 hours.

"Marinda I am not sure if you realized it, but my son is fully grown. I raised him to take care of his responsibilities. The Santiagos are great men despite the reputation that precedes them from their father. My husband taught them everything he could before he passed away. I would appreciate it if you stop making crack pot passes at my son.

Second, marriage is not something that should be forced. If Jennifer is content with just being his girlfriend, and the mother of his child. Then do us all a favor and leave them the hell alone. I am sure that eventually they will venture into marriage. One thing about Santiago men is that they are persistent. Christon rants about marrying Jennifer now, so in due time it will happen. Until now let them be great parents to our grandchild. I stated, while smiling a little.

"Mrs. Santiago with all due respect, I hoped that my daughter wouldn't wind up with a scoundrel like your son. I mean he's tattoed, a drug dealer, and probably has a couple bodies underneath his belt.

"I will not respect this union. Carter you can be a part of the babies life, but I refuse to be the grandparent to a low life that is destined to be just like his father. Jennifer I am highly disappointed in your life choice. I think you should have waited on Dame to work things out with him." She spat, while standing up.

I watched Jennifer drop Christon hand to wipe at t the tears coming down her face.

Jennifer

All night I have been trying to be respectful to my mom. However, what she just said put the icing on the damn cake.

"No, no, no, you will sit; and you will listen to what I have to say. All night long I have listened to you throw snide remarks at the father of my child. Now you want to leave like its all good. You are beyond wrong mom." I spoke, while standing to my feet.

"Dame has, and will never be "good" for me. That man beat the living shit out of me, but you claim he's the one. Mom grow up and act like your age. Then you are threatening dad about being in his grandchild's life. If you willingly choose not to be there then that is on you. I will not force you, but you cannot choose for dad if he will be in his grandchild's life or not.

Furthermore, Christon is a damn good man to me. You may just be blinded by what he does for a living, but know that he has never put me in harms way. I even have my own security guard since finding out I was pregnant. I can say that Christon loves me unconditionally with all my fucked up flaws. Unconditional love is all I have ever asked for. You are just too stuck up to see that he loves me! Now, mommy dearest you can leave!" I hissed, while walking away.

I couldn't believe the nerve of my mom. I knew she disliked Christon. I swear it seems as if she just hated him for more than what she claimed. I rubbed my stomach absent mindedly. If she wanted to miss out on the best thing to eve happen then I wasn't going to force an issue that she obviously deaded herself.

I had to focus on my family.

Christon

I said my goodbyes to everyone, but my mom was the last to leave. I was standing by the door as she was grabbing her purse.

"Son, make sure Jenn is okay. Although, she claims that she doesn't care she does. Every womans dream is to have their parents support throughout their life decisions. Also, you don't stress yourself with trying to make Marinda like you. Hopefully she will come around. If she doesn't then don't worry. Just be the best man, and father you can to your unborn-and my daughter in law." she stated, with a wink.

I swear my mom always knew what to say when I was feeling a certain way about a situation. I pulled her into a hug and placed a kiss on her forehead.

"Thank you, and I love you mama" I replied, while letting her go.

"I love you more baby, and I'm really proud of you" she replied, while smiling up at me. I kissed her cheek before she turned around and left. I watched until she got in her car and Davis pulled out of the driveway.

I made my way to the bedroom, and as I got closer I could hear sniffling. I was going to take a quick shower, but my baby needed me more.

I pulled off my clothes and slid in the bed beside her. As soon as I laid down her arms and legs were attached to my side. I rubbed her back a little as she continued sniffling.

"Babe, stop all that crying. Your mom is just being stubborn right now." I spoke, trying to comfort her with words.

"I don't care if she does babe, but why would you wish bad on my child. My child is innocent, and he/ she has nothing to do with her dislike for you."she groaned, while tightening her hold.

I shook my head like she could see me in the dark.

"I wish I could answer that baby. But we just have to focus on ourself, and our little one for now. If your mom has a change of heart then so be it. If she doesn't we cannot stress over the biggest mistake she will ever make." I replied, while kissing her forehead.

She moved from my side to laying on top of me.

"Babe" she spoke, while playing with the sleeve of my shirt

"yeah" I answered, feeling my eyes getting heavy.

"hold me, please." she responded, while closing her eyes.

I pulled her closer into my chest, and tightened my hold on her. I knew words wouldn't fix this, so the comfort of silence, and my arms would do the trick for now. I silently prayed that Jenn's mom would come around...at least for Jenn's sanity.

***Marinda is off to the side. I decided to upload again for my birthday as a gift to you guys! Enjoy! Do you think that Marinda overreacted? Do you think she will come around? :) -CocainePacino
