Scorpions heart bounded in her chest. She could almost feel, and hear its rapid rhythm. "N-now-" "Yes!" The Swiftwing guard slammed open the bars. Scorpions felt fear rise in her stomach. She couldn't do this. S-she, she couldn't fight. She didn't want to kill any dragon! No matter how innocent, or wicked they may be. Run...dash....jump off the stadium....fly away...rum...run! The words echoed in her mind, but she just licensed, not doing anything. She felt stuck in place. SHe couldn't run, couldn't fly, couldn't fight, or scream for help.
She jumped when she heard the fighting bars slam behind her. She had not paid attention to where she was going, she was already in the waiting area. "Scorpion!" A voice called. She wiped her head to the side, ready to fight. Scar threw his wings around her and said. "I'm so happy your here!" Scar exclaimed. "Me-me to." "I hear d we'll be fighting on the same side" He encouraged. "We-we will?" She echoed. "Yeah..."
"Now, the moment you've been waiting for!" Scorpion searched for Sightless. "Be prepared fellow dragons!" He was nowhere to be seen. " We have!" Panic flared throw the dragonet. "Sightless, of the Icewings," Her heart stopped. He walked out on their side of the arena, he glared at anyone who challenged him. "Scar of the Rainwings!" "No!!" Scorpion grabbed her brother. "We'll be fine," He reinsured Scar walked triumphantly onto the arena. Fear flared in his snake-like eyes, but he walked like a king.
"And Scorpion of the Sandwings!" She ran out. She could almost sense a terrifying Swiftwing, a sharp spear in talon, getting ready to pounce from behind her if she dares hesitate. But there was no one there. "Versing, Bolt of the Stomewings!" "What?!" Scar roared to her surprise. She couldn't tell what was wrong. A huge, slender Stormwing stumbled out. She was beautiful shades of bright blue, edged with some shadings of grey, and gold. Like thunder in a clear, morning sky.
Her eyes shone a bright, lighting blue. Her ribs shone throw her slender, starved body. But she looked as strong and as loyal as a queen. "That's.....Shes....What?!" Scar stumbled backward. Sightless flinched. He must have recognized her sent or something, Scorpion guessed. "Is that the queen?" Sightless asked in a hurry. "Y-yeah that's the darn Stormwing queen! She was the one who said she didn't want us dead!" Scar shouted.
Scorpions heart sank. She remembered her, from when they were hiding in that tree. "You're a terrible dragon." She had spoken to Burn. "One day, ONE day. We will have a worthy queen." Then she flew off. Was this her punishment? All was silent...At once, the doom rattled. Dragons all around them shouted, or even screamed in shook. Scorpions gaze flew up. The top of the doom ground, and crackled. "Gets the prisoners in their cages!" Burn commanded. "Stormwings, Swiftwings, and Flamewings! Attack whoever's outside. That's right, all of you!!!" Burns roar of inpatients made all the dragons scrambled out of their seats. Guest, soldiers, or queens. They all headed outside.
"Skywings! Stay here and be ready for any dragons to sneak in and attack. Bolt! Lead the Skywings!" Bolt hesitated. "Me-" "Do it!" Bolt took off into the air, her beautiful scales shining like diamonds. "Skywings! Gather in the arena!" Bolt landed by Scorpion, Scar, and Sightless. Scorpion got ready to lunge. "It's so great to finally meet you young ones," She announced. "I'm so sorry about everything. After I get all the Skywings settled, we can escape. Just the four of us," Bolt smiled warmly. "You-you can?" Scorpion echoed. "Why of course," She smiled. " I can help you find your parents. Scorpion, Scar. I used to know your parents." "You did?..." Scar reassured quietly.
"Yes, we fought in the wars together. I can tell you what type of hybrids you are. I can act like an aunt for you guys for the heck of it!" Scorpion laughed. Excitement and joy flared throw her. "Fang?!" Sightless shouted, making them jump. He took straight into the air. "Wait!" Bolt shouted. "No! Stay here!" Scar grasped the queens talon. "It's too dangerous. Pulse, you need to escort the Skywings...Keep Scorpion safe for me..." He pleaded. "...Alright" We watched him go. Bolt laps around the arena, making sure everyone was safe.
Scorpion looked up...S-she couldn't find her brother, she couldn't find Sightless! Panic pierced her like speeding bullets. She felt her stomach jolt when she spotted them. To her dismay, they had both somehow ended up in a cage, far, far above her. "Scar! Sightless!" She screamed, she darted into the sky. "Scorpion! Wait!" Bolt started toward her. Then, out of nowhere. The crowd screams, abruptly turned to joy.
Scorpion glanced behind her. Burn had dropped a metal, oval-like shape, from the slightly open roof. She remembered this from the books she had read about Flamewings. This was one of the many inventions they had made. The capsule is programmed to stretch around a crowd of dragons. It has a strong, glass surface, giving them the ability to see throw the dome.
It was once used in the wars, to keep campgrounds safe at night, so dragon's wouldn't have to waste energy watching the camp. Scorpion twisted around and darted for Bolt, who was a few tail-lengths behind her. "Bolt!" She yelled. She rammed into her, pushing her into the crowd of Skywings. She twisted around, but she wasn't fast enough to escape the safe capsule.
She almost lost her balance when the sudden dome shook again, causing bamboo to rain from its roof. Scorpion put her talon on the doam and said. "I'll be fine, stay here Bolt. Protect the Skywings...please?" Bolt looked at her for a long time...She nodded and dashed the other direction. Scorpion wiped the other way. Her heart pounded in her chest. She flew as fast as she could towards them. Then, for just a second. Sightless gaze locked on hers, he froze. He turned, telling something to Scar.
Scorpion flew faster. Sudanlly, something abruptly banged behind her. The sound pierced her ears painfully. When she twisted around, a bright, red-yellow light filled her green eyes. She felt herself be thrown to the side by a scorching heat. She fell onto a hard surface, she couldn't interpret what was happening, or where she was. She just closed her eyes, and let shadows cast over her.
