Chapter Eight The Queens

Fang looked around, she was still amazed by the land she was in. The forest reached high above her, much higher than the cave she was in. The Venomwing stretched her wings out and said. "Isn't this great?" "Maybe for you, this is way too crowded for me. I wish I was back in a cave," Bone said looking around. "I bet it is great, I just hope Hawk doesn't track down our scents," Sightless said. "We'll be fine!" Cloud jumped in. "You've been so worried ever since we left the cave!" he chirped. "This is amazing!" she yelped as she ran in a small circle, "I wish we at least left a note." "But then Hawk would know were gone like that," Sightless said with a snap of his talons. "I agree with Sightless here, don't ya think he would find us, mate?" Active said. "Errrr true," Cloud said. He formed some lightning around her talons and looked at it, not paying attention as always. "You hear that?" Sightless jumped in with a flick of his long whip-like tail. "Hear what?" Fang asked. "Wing beats! Welp, I'm out!" Sightless exclaimed. The Icewing whipped around and ran straight off a ledge. "Hey Scar? Are these roots? Can I get under them?" Sightless asked. The Rainwing looked behind him and said, "Yep go ahead." "Thanks!" Sightless called back. "I'm following him," Scorpion said as she jumped down to join him. Cloud squinted and said, "Is that a patrol of Swiftwings? I think I see Stromwings too and maybe Flair Win-" "Those are the Flairwing and Stormwing queens!" Widow interrupted. The Webwing dashed to the roots. Active ran off, along with Scar. "The Stormwing queen!?" Cloud squealed, "I want to meet my tribe's leader!" "Move it cow-brain!" Fang hissed as she shoved the young dragonet off the ledge. She pulled her under the roots just as she heard talons land on the wooden path above them. Fang tucked her wings around her, trying to to breath. Cloud bounced on her talons. Scar gave Cloud a look. Cloud slowed down with a sigh. Active gave him a "Shut it, would ya?" look to Cloud.

She could hear birds chirping and animals rustling in the bushes. "Breeze, Bolt. You've finally arrived." Fang could hear fire crackle above her, she knew that Burn must have been using fire in some way as she spoke. "Do we have a deal?" Breeze hissed in a low, weary voice. "That isn't up to you!" Burn rored. "S-sorry, she won't jump a-at you again Mam," Bolt mumbeld. Breeze let out a low menacing growl, "I will claim you as my ally, IF you promise me two things. One; you betray those worthless Skywings. "But..." Bolt protested. "TWO; find those stupid dragonets in the prophecy." Fang's heart stopped. Did she mean them? But why? The prophecy was made up. She saw Sightless flinch out of the corner of her eye. And Active shifted. "But they're just dragonets, the prophecy isn't even re-" "We will be proud to help you," Breeze interrupted. Burn nodded and said, "By the way Bolt, we all know some Leafwing named Snake made this up. But remember the dragons crowding are kingdoms. They think it's true. If they're dead, then they know it can't be fulfilled. Therefore, it's NOT real," Burn chuckled.

"Bur-" "Find them!" Burn snapped. "Burn down the whole forest if you have too!" Breeze said, "She scented them here so they must be here! And as for you Bolt. Take care of the ones who raised them." Bolt hesitated, then nodded and said, "You're a terrible dragon. One day, ONE day. We will have a worthy queen." She flew off quickly before Burn could respond. Burn laughed. She placed her talons on the tree they were in. "Burn down the forest at once! I won't rest until I watch them die!" The tree started to catch fire around them. The fire crackled and bark fell from above them, but they were silent. Breeze swept her wings under her as she took of into the air. A huge gust of air shot past them as she took off, sending the fire flying, and spreading through the forest around them. Burn hesitated, then flew off after her. "Bull bille!" Sightless yelped. "By the moons, lets go!" Scorpion jumped. "But the queens! We just saw the queens!" Cloud squeaked.

"Come on Cloud! We're being serious!" Fang hissed as she slapped her softly with her tail."Yeah, we're in a literal burning tree!" Sightless smirked. "This could be fatal!" Bone hissed back. "Faatalll...  What's that?" Cloud murmured(echoed). "Oh my gosh kill, me already" Sightless sighed.
