Komaeda looked at the window and then looked at me remorsefully as he realized something. "A-ahh.. it's already so late." He frowned. "I'm so sorry for burdening you with my bullshit at this hour. I'm just the worst, ain't I?" he laughed, his voice was trembling slightly as he looked at me awkwardly.
"Hey, it's fine, really. Forget about it!" I tried to console him. "But.." he looked at me with shame in his eyes. "We were supposed to have fun..!" he pouted. "And yet I ruined everything, as always.." he sighed deeply feeling disappointed.
I only smiled weakly in response since I had no idea what to do in order to make him stop blaming himself and overthinking, but then suddenly I came up with something really nice. "Komaeda, could you wait here a bit?" I asked him politely trying my best to not make him feel suspicious of me. "Sure. Where are you going though?" he asked me while I stood up from the couch. "Nowhere, really." after I'd said that, I laughed nervously. I really wasn't good at keeping secrets.
"Okay... be careful?" he said it so hesitantly that it came off more like a question. I nodded and headed to the kitchen. My secret plan was to make some tea for us, I mean, it was just a simple thing, boil water and pour it into cups with tea bags, there was no way I could screw it up, right?
And so I looked around for some kettle and once I found it, I put it on a stove. In the meantime, while the water was boiling, I checked the cupboards to find two cups and tea bags. That's when things got quite difficult; the shelf with cups was high up, it was still in my reach but I had to stand on my toes in order to grab something from it. I got the first cup safely but when trying to grab the other one I lost my balance which led to the cup falling on the ground and breaking into little pieces. "Shit!" I screamed loudly and sighed while looking at the mess I had made. I hoped Komaeda hadn't heard the sound but in less than 30 seconds he ran into the kitchen while panting loudly. "Hi.. na.. un..!" he took a breath in and out. "Are you.. o–" he saw me picking up the pieces of the broken cup. "Stop that!!" I instantly dropped the pieces which I was holding in my left hand.
"I-I'm sorry.." said my apologies sheepishly while looking on the ground. I felt really bad for messing up such a simple task.
He soon kneeled on the floor and started gathering up the shattered pieces. "I wouldn't want you to get hurt.." he said when he noticed that he scared me quite a bit. "What were you trying to do anyway?" he asked me while tilting his head curiously. "N-nothing much.. I just.." the kettle started whistling and it alone answered Komaeda's question. "Oh." he smiled softly at me, stood up, got rid of the broken cup and ruffled my hair. "You should've told me that you wanted to drink some tea.. I can make as many of them for you as you wish." he said while chuckling.
"But.. I wanted to make one for you." I said visibly upset. "You know.. you seemed to be feeling pretty down so I thought I could cheer you up like that." I pouted since things didn't go my way at all.
"Hinata-kun..!" he hugged me tightly and kissed my cheeks which left me in awe. We did hug and even kissed at times but only when we greeted and also when we were saying our goodbyes, then it was nothing out of the ordinary, but now it was just so sudden and intense, I was wordless. When he saw my expression he let me go quickly. "A-ahh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that.. it's just so sweet of you!" his cheeks took a rosy tint and a lovely, grateful smile appeared on his face. "I-it's just a tea, Komaeda.. it's not a big deal." I blushed even more than him and smiled back at him bashfully. I just wasn't expecting him to be so appreciative of this small gesture which I failed at doing successfully anyway.
Komaeda was about to continue making the tea instead of me but I grabbed his hand stopping him from doing that. "No!" I shouted a bit too laud than I intended to. "I-I mean.." I coughed feeling embarrassment hitting in for shouting like that for no reason. "I'll make the tea." I stated firmly yet kindly at the same time. "You can go back to the living room and leave it to me!" I smiled at him confidently trying to show him that this time things would go well.
