The summer sun beamed down on Forest Hills, with the birds chirping and the sounds of children laughing on the streets. Dogs barking at the birds outside and 14-year-old girls sitting at their computer annoyed.
"Nala..." Emma muttered as her dog continued to bark at the window, "Nala, stop I'm trying to do something— Nala!" The girl turned towards the window, only to gasp, staggering to her feet when she realized what her dog was barking at.
Spider-Man.
He was standing on her balcony, leaning against the railing, looking out onto the neighborhood. She stared at his back figure oddly before quickly strolling over to the side door by her window. The door that accessed her balcony.
When she stepped onto the balcony, her movements quickly caught the boy's attention and he looked over at her. His gaze lingered on her, blinking madly under the mask but Emma just stared at him oddly.
"What are you doing here?" she asked.
"You told me you need my help," Spider-Man hesitantly said, "I'm here to help."
Emma narrowed her eyes at him for a long moment causing him to silently squirm in his place before the girl smiled, and he smiled back under the mask. "What should we do next?" she asked.
———
A grunt left Emma's mouth when she was slammed into the ground at her home gym. And hovering above her was Spider-Man, crossing his arms. "That's what's next," he said and she shot him an annoyed look, "Don't look at me like that, Princess. You can't fight. You should learn as we figure out what powers you have."
He held out his hand for her but she instead pulled herself up, nudging his hand away. He lightly smiled under the mask as she eyed him, crossing her arms. "How do you know I can't fight?" she asked.
"Because I saw you in Germany," he lied, having to keep up with the narrative that they didn't know each other, "I had to keep you from danger almost the entire time."
"Whatever," Emma scoffed, "Wait, did you just call me Princess?"
"It...slipped," Spider-Man nervously said before turning from her, "Let's do this again."
Emma huffed before she placed herself in a fighting position. And right before she moved for him, he spun around and threw a punch, a punch she caught. She smirked cockily until she yelped when he twisted her arm then flipped her onto the ground. Again.
"Ugh!" she groaned, feeling him walk around her.
"Again," he said.
When Emma pushed herself to her feet, she stepped dangerously close to his face. She lightly glared at him as he nervously glanced down to her lips. He felt his heart pounding, mentally reminding himself she didn't remember him. Everything he cherished, gone from her memory.
"This is getting ridiculous," she spat, turning from him.
"That's because you're losing," he said as she glanced back at him, "Now do you want to figure this out or not?"
Emma slowly sighed before pulling her hair up and tying it up in a ponytail. She gazed at him determinedly before she darted for him. She threw a punch but he caught it, causing her to eye him irritated. She then used her other fist to punch him in the stomach. But when she did, Emma stood confused when he lurched forward, groaning in pain. He staggered back, gripping hold of his stomach as Emma stayed completely unharmed.
"Spider-Man?" she questioned, "I swear, I didn't punch that hard."
"Your fist felt like...steel," he said as he leaned against a treadmill, "You shouldn't have been able to hurt me that much. Yet..."
