“How did you spend your Valentine’s day afternoon, Emma?” Ally asked on Monday.
I didn’t want to tell Ally anything about seeing Ross and sharing a kiss with him. She was probably never let the subject drop. Or worse, go around school, screaming that I, the book nerd, was in love with a real boy. Embarrassing I know.
“I finished another book” I smiled widely at her.
“Of course you did” she rolled her eyes at me. “When are you gonna learn to use your time wisely?” she asked.
“Define using time wisely” I joked.
“As in trying to get in your first serious relationship” Ally answered in a duh-factor manner.
“Well, geez thanks for the tip” I said sarcastically.

“Emma, today we aren’t going to work in the cafe today” Ally said when we were on our lunch break.
“Why not?” I frowned.
“I told Mr. Lee that we had that cheerleading routine to do for the big soccer game tonight” she said. “Don’t tell me you forgot” she frowned.
“Of course I didn’t” I scoffed at her remark. In reality I totally forgot. In fact, was that ever mentioned in our school?
Wait… the soccer game? That meant… Ross… wow life.
“You forgot” Ally statemented rolling her eyes again at me. I swear if she kept doing that anymore today, her eyes were gonna get stuck at the back of her head.
“No! I just had an author’s block” I tried to come up with something clever as an excuse.
“Author’s block? But you don’t write stories you read them!” “We aren’t even talking about books!” Ally gave a loud sigh looking at the ceiling in disbelief.
I smiled at her, while she didn’t look. “Calm your mouth, Ally! I got it. Soccer game and cheerleading tonight” “Here?” I asked to make sure.
“Yes, at the field” she rolled her eyes again!
“Okay” I nodded.
“Emma!”my name was being called to my attention.
I smiled immediately as soon as I saw it was Ross who called for my attention.
