"Good, hold him a little longer to the base of the jump. Don't let him take you so early!" Justin yells front across the arena as I circle around to jump the 2'9 course again.
For the last two nights I've had to get used to Maggy sitting in the office watching, just watching. But I hated it. I asked her the first night to keep the lights off but it dosen't help to much. I come around to the single vertical and hold Harry, Trying to not let him rush so much but it's no use. My concentration isn't on Harry. Instead of leaving early I bury him into the base of the jump. Somehow, with Harry being so athletic, he mountain climbs and crop-hops over the jump and lands roughly. Mid-air, I got jumped out of the tack and when he landed, I landed on the side of him. I tried desperately to hang on, using all of my upper body strength to pull myself back in the correct position.
"Hang on!" I hear Justin call frantically!
Harry slows knowing that somethings wrong but it's too late. Gravity was taking its course on me and pulling my body to the ground. I try to grab a better piece of mane but Harry spooks at Maggy walking towards the gate making my body go opposite of his. I land flat on my back knocking the wind out of me.
Harry and Justin right by my side. I get up still catching my breath.
"You okay?" Justin asks, his eyes searching mine.
"Yeah" I say once I get my breath back. "actually needed that"
His eyes stay on me, not believing me.
"really. Now I will focus."
"Okay" He turns around still not fully convinced I'm okay. Or that he's waiting for me to have a melt down, threaten to not ride anymore. But no. I feel focused now and ready to ride.
I ground mount Harry and canter off Circle once, ten times more focused then what I was before. This time I Concentrate and get the perfect distance to the vertical, then circle around and jump the line too.
"Good job! I'm proud of you!" Justin says when I dismount when Harry was cool.
Maggy walks in, "Good job! See you guys tomorrow!"
"Maggy!" I say remembering as she just turns the corner to leave. "Tomorrow's Wednesday! Sleep!"
"She gives me a thumbs up and hurry's out probably really tired and waiting to get into her warm, comfy, soft bed.
I really want to sleep.
The car ride home was quiet. When he pulls into the driveway I ask him whats on his mind.
"I want to sleep alone. See if I can not have to nightmare on my own."
"Yay! That's awesome!" I was missing my own bed and really wanted to get back in it.
"Your not mad?"
"Justin" I half laugh. "Why would I be mad?
He hesitates, "I don't know."
We walked into separate rooms and I crawl into my bed and snuggle in under the big down covers.
Yup, I love my bed!
************
The suns in my face when I wake up, I tiredly rolled over to get away from it. Instead of my arm hitting the bed, it whacks Justin in the face.
"Ah Shit!" He's instantly awake.
I open half of my eye, "Sorry" I mumble unfazed that he's in my bed.
With my eyes closed I see him smirk. "Nothing like a black eye to start off the day"
I smile, then take it back. "Nightmare again?"
