After lunch we went back home to change out of the hospital smelling clothes. Mom wasn't home even though it was about the time of her lunch break. She's probably went out to lunch with Kent. I get a pang of jealousy thinking about it so I decide to get right in the shower, also because I felt like I still smell like cafeteria table. Justin showers in the upstairs shower.
Once clean and dressed in a green short sleeved shirt, jeans and boat shoes, I turn on the TV and flip through the channels and there is nothing on.
"What do you wanna do?" Justin asks from the top of the stairs.
"Um, I don't know. There's nothing on TV."
"Well, its one o'clock, we can't just sit here all day."
He was inching towards going to the barn, I think.
"Oh! I forgot! I have to call my mom! Can I borrow your phone."
He takes his phone out of his front pocket. "Sure, why?" He tosses me his phone. "The pass code is-"
"yeah, yeah, I know."
I unlock it and start to dial my moms number. As I dial I tell Justin that I wanted to tell my mom that I've been going to the barn while he was talking to his parents. But since I didn't do it then, I'm going to do it now. The second I tell him he runs down the stairs and jumps across the couch to grab his phone out of my hand. Landing on his stomach on the other side to the couch.
"Justin!"
He gets back up off the floor "Gina! You can't tell her!"
"What!? Isn't that what everybody wants!"
"I mean you can't just call her up and be like 'hey, I've been secretly going to the barn in the middle of the night for eight months'. She will freak out! Yeah she'll be happy but more mad by the fact that you have been going behind her back."
He's right but what other way can I tell her. "I'm going to have to tell her sometime. What do I do?"
"I don't know. But please, please don't call her or tell her just yet."
I take a deep breath in. I don't want to keep this secret much longer. But of course I'll agree with Justin. "Fine, but I can't take it much longer."
"I know, just hold on a little longer."
We stay silent for a little while until Justin grabs my hand and pulls me up, "Lets go"
I let him lead me "Where"
"we're going for a walk."
"where"
"Jones Beach"
"boardwalk?"
"yeah"
"Why?"
"Because I'm bored and I know you are going to call your mom if you don't stay occupied."
Soon we were at the field 6 board walk and started to walk. "So, what's up" Justin asks.
"Nothing much, you."
"same."
There's awkward silence.
"this is awkward" I tuck my hair behind my ear.
Justin lets out a laugh, "Now that you said it, it is! Oh did I tell you what Maggy's trying to do?" His eyes light up.
"no, What?" I ask excited knowing that it has to be good news.
"Maggy is going to help me get a trainers license so that I can start training people!"
"Oh my god Justin! That's awesome!"
