I spent the ride home thinking of why they like me so much. Why did they cheer when I was done with my speech? It wasn't that special. I just said thank you, that's it. I didn't say anything powerful, break down in tears, and throw them a party. All I said was thank you.
Curtsy.
That's why they like me. I never really talked to them except and occasional "Hi" and a smile. They think of me as a nice person. A 15 year old (14 then) who went through a catastrophic accident and severe depression after. Whoa, I think to myself. I never thought as myself as being depressed. But as I thought about it more, I was. I didn't ride, I was nasty to everyone, and I shut out on everything that was near me.
These people think of me as a kid who went through a really bad time but, with the help of people, pulled herself out of it and is getting back on track to the real world. And to them, I'm fascinating that I kept a level head jumping 5ft and after the fact didn't just leave like I normally did. I acknowledged them like they have been acknowledging me for weeks. And they appreciated that.
"Maggy sent me the video if you want to watch it." Justin breaks me out of my daze.
"Oh yeah" I say excitedly "Where's your phone? I'll watch it now."
He shifts in his seat and pulls his phone out of his front pocket and hands it to me. "Here ya go." He hands it to me. "I suggest that you already know my password." He grins.
"For a while" I say unlocking his phone. "Is it in your pictures?"
"Yeah"
I click on the pictures icon and the video is the last one there. Although there isn't a lot for me to find it because there's only about 12 photos and they are all horse related. Probably Maggy asked him to send a picture to a buyer or, as I look closer at the photos without clicking on them, I notice that it's none that we have had. I don't recognize any of them. "Okay" I say "I'm being a little bit like a stalker but who are these horses?" I ask.
"Maggy asked me to search for some and others I found with I was looking up the others and liked them."
"She's buying more horses?" I know she has the whole business where she should buy more horses but these are all thoroughbreds that are straight off the track. Usually she buys ones that have a little more mileage on them.
"Yeah, she wants to start getting some greenies in her barn."
"Cool" I shrug then click on my video. I smile when I see Harry easily sore over the jump and my jaw drop when I cleared it. I didn't even notice that Harry threw in a happy buck after the fence until right now. "This is awesome!" I say and give Justin back his phone.
"Great job today G. You did awesome!"
"Thanks" I smile. "I had fun. When I do finally show again, I want to show in the 4ft."
"And you are fully capable of doing it." He pulls into the driveway and turns the car off. A light on in the window or my moms room stops me from getting out of the car.
"Justin" I urgently say. "Justin she's awake."
"Go change in the back." He says quickly.
"I can't, I used my clothes the other day when I had the fever!"
"I put a new set in there, go change!"
I look at him weird, "That's kind of creepy"
"Aren't you happy I did it now!"
"A little" I agree and climb over the back seat and rip open the compartment thing. And quickly changing into the plan blue pajamas that Justin put back here for me. "What about you?"
