Alaska's P.O.V.
The sun was almost gone and Lucas and I where attempting to find our way back. I actually knew the way back. I just wanted to see panicked Lucas and I couldn't help but laugh my ass off every time Lucas would practically walk passed the way back.
"Why are you laughing! we're lost!" Lucas panicked but spread a little smile on his face. I decided to brake it to him.
"We walked past the way out 4 times." I continued laughing really hard.
Lucas P.O.V
I couldn't help but spread a smile across my face when I saw Alaska laughing at me. I felt so dumb. She guided us out of the little forest and we came to the road again.
"So, what now?" Alaska asked trying to brush the wet hair that stuck to her face. It was drizzling, I didn't mind the rain that much but Alaska seemed to love it. I loved that about her. She didn't care about her hair getting messed up or her make up being ruined even though she didn't bother to put any on. I began to walk past her and headed to the right of the road, attempting to avoid going home because I didn't feel like being under a roof.
"Um... want to continue walking?" I asked turning to her, yet, still walking back wards.
"Whats down that end?" Alaska questioned out of curiosity.
"I think it just leads into the city, where like no cars can go and there's just stores and stuff all around." I informed. She nodded in response and caught up to me, we continued walking. It began to rain harder and I couldn't help but notice a little smile on Alaska's face. I moved closer to her. Close enough for our fingers to brush against each other. Which they did.
Alaska's P.O.V.
Lucas had moved closer to me and our fingers began to brush together. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know how to feel. What if we held hands? I mean, I don't think that means anything unless you want it to mean something. I didn't want it to mean anything. No, not with Lucas. He meant to much to me, even if we some how started dating, we wouldn't be getting married, and I don't think I can loose someone like Lucas forever. I looked to my side to see Lucas smiling widely at me.
"What are you think about?" He asked.
"Oh, nothing really, just about the rain." I lied. It sounded believable. "what about you?"
"About where we're gonna be when we open those letters." He replied with his smile fading.
"Oh," I swallowed in nervousness. "Do you have a secret?" I changed the subject, but I think I made it worse.
He stared blankly at me. I think I just messed this evening up. Great. "If I tell you one, will you tell me one of yours?" he negotiated. I nodded.
"Okay, well. How about you just ask and i'll answer." He suggested.
"Alright, what are you scared of in life?" I sighed.
"What am I scared of?" He repeated watching me nod. "I'm scared of being lost, and no one know where I am. You know? Where everyone thinks i've disappeared and thinks you're dead, and gives up on you. That's one if the things I'm scared of." He answered turning serious. "Are you scared of the same thing?" Lucas turned to me with his blond hair sticking to his forehead and water dripping into his eyes.
"Not really, i once got mad at my parents and took a safety boat off to sea by myself because I wanted to be alone. My parents didn't notice at first but once they did I guess I had drifted to far away, and they called services to go and find me by helicopter and I wasn't very far away, although I was terrified that I'd never get to see the people who gave me life ever again, in the end I created a big scene and the argument was probably completely pointless." I laughed at my dumb past self.
"Oh, how old where you?" Lucas laughed. I began to think.
"Probably 10 or 11 around there." I chuckled.
"Okay. My turn!" Lucas beamed. I was nervous. "Why did your parents decide to raise you in the ocean?" Lucas smiled. I sighed.
"Um, they once, saw, they once saw a kid who was, um, was being hurt by the world, like the people and other things, and, um, they didn't want me to experience the things that little kid went through. That's why." I looked down fighting back tears. 'stay strong, don't let him know somethings wrong, don't let him know your past, do it for him.' I kept repeating to myself in my mind. Lucas was looking at me now. He had stopped walking. "They wanted me to be different I guess." I added still walking.
"I like different." Lucas chuckled. I stopped walking and turned to him, he had his hands in his pocket and he stared at his feet.
"I always wanted to be like the rest of the girls." I softly smiled.
"I'm glad your not though, I'm glad your not like the girls who care to much about their hair an makeup and need to be wearing the latest fashion style." Lucas looked up at me and gave me a goofy smile.
"Oh well secretly my closet is filled with designer shoes and I hate the fact that I spent 3 hours on my hair and now it's all wet. My mom also grounded me and took away all my makeup as a punishment." I sarcastically informed letting a giggle slip out of my lips.
"Me too." Lucas laughed and walked over to me, before I kept walking I playfully punched him in the arm. We both began to burst into laughter. "Where have you been all my life!" Lucas practically screamed making me calm down.
"In the middle of the ocean, actually." I laughed. As soon as I knew it Lucas had began to laugh and picked me up throwing me over his shoulder.
"LUCAS WHAT ARE YOU DOING? PUT ME DOWN!" I whined in laughter, he seemed to be heading towards the forest.
"Okay." He giggled and put me down at the beginning on the forest. A tree stood behind me and Lucas was just in front of me. We both where still laughing. I looked up at the sky, it was grey and the temperature was cold. I looked back at Lucas to find out he had stepped closer to me, I looked to my side to see a row of tree's and back at Lucas, who had stepped even closer to me. We where now inches apart. I backed up and my back hit the tree momentarily. I smiled even though my heart was racing for some reason.
"You're no ordinary girl, Alaska Jones." Lucas smiled and stepped closer to me. He had brought his hand up to my waist and rested his hand lightly on it, as if he where afraid it would hurt me. I examined his face. His pink lips, his soft colored eyes. There was a small gap between us and our foreheads nearly touched, and then, he began to lean in.
Before we could do anything, there was a huge boom. It was thunder. I pretended to be scared and jumped out of the trap I was in and began walking down the road. I turned around to Lucas to see he was just staring at the empty space I had left between him and the tree. I couldn't believe I did that to him, funny thing is, I really wanted to kiss him.
"Come on! We're gonna get caught in a storm if we don't get going!" I laughed brushing off my thoughts. I saw him spread a soft smile on his face and he began to walk towards me, his smile growing.
Lucas' P.O.V.
We where inches away, in the moment, I can't believe I got that close to Alaska. The girl I'm crazy about let me rest my hand on her waist. But the girl I'm crazy about doesn't want to kiss me.
