~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was Thursday. I sighed as I ran my fingers through my hair in algebra, listening to the teacher talk about how we'd be starting trigonometry.
Jenna was very distant from me, she was distant from all of us really. Emily usually hung out with me the most and I suppose we'd been growing into a nice friendship. We'd meet up sometimes and she'd insist we go shopping while we talk about other people.
Lucas and I where usual, close as ever. I've had complicated feelings for him ever since the day we where in the woods. Did he really try to kiss me? And what confuses me is if I kiss him, what would that even mean? Would we start dating? I was just so curious and confused and I didn't know what to do.
I was snapped out of my thoughts by the sound of a ringing bell, indicating it was time for lunch.
I met up with Lucas and Emily at our usual bench, and we all saw Jenna run out of school, which she'd been doing for these past couple days. She would dodge our questions when we asked her things. She wouldn't pick up the phone or answer text messages. I was starting to feel worried.
"I wonder whats up with Jenna." Emily sighed.
"She wouldn't answer my texts or calls yesterday, again." I frowned.
"Should we trap her and ask her questions?" Lucas said mindlessly. We all looked at back at him with disturbed faces. "What?!" He smiled.
"Lucas we can't trap an innocent girl like a mouse." Emily began to laugh slowly in disbelief.
"You'd make a great cop." I chuckled. "You always gotta trap them to get answers."
"Sarcasm?" Lucas guessed at my comment. He watched me as I nodded my head slowly. "And I don't mean like trap her as in trap her in the bathroom or something. I mean like trap her into hanging out with us and we can ask her questions." Lucas clarified.
"We'll see." Emily shrugged digging into her food.
After school I went home with Lucas and Emily. We greeted my parents and went up to my room where we would be finishing the homework we where given.
Once we where done, We just sat in a circle on the floor in a comfortable silence.
"Did you hear Sierras throwing a huge Halloween party?" Emily informed.
"Yeah she posted it on facebook." I sighed.
"Yeah I saw. I got invited." Lucas spoke in a sad tone.
"As did I. And I thought she hated me." I chuckled.
"Yeah I got invited too. Are you guys gonna go?" Emily asked.
I exchanged looks with Lucas.
"I am." I smiled watching them turn their eyes on me in confusion.
"What?" They both chorused.
"Yeah! I mean its my first party ever. Like why not?" I shrugged.
"Yeah but you know how those parties get right?" Lucas sat up straight.
"Well, no not really. That's kind of why I'm going." I giggled.
"No, I mean, people get out of control. They get drunk, they try and find someone to sleep with. They just do all types of crazy stuff. But if your going, then I'm gonna go with you." He smiled.
"Well if you guys are gonna go, I'm gonna go." Emily smiled excitedly.
"Is it a really big party?" I asked.
"Yeah, she throws parties when her parents are gone and they're usually quite big." Lucas nibbled his bottom lip.
"Like how many people?" Emily furrowed her eyebrows.
"Around 200 or something, mostly because she invites friends, and those friends bring friends and it goes on and on." Lucas chuckled as he saw Emily and I's surprised expressions.
"When is it again?" I licked my lips.
"Next Friday. So we have 8 days to pick out costumes." Emily beamed.
"What are you gonna be?" I asked both of them.
"I heard girls dress slutty." Emily informed.
"Which is true." Lucas frowned.
"I'm gonna think about mine then." I shrugged getting bored of the topic.
We just sat in a comfortable silence.
"Lucas." I started getting his attention. "Do what ever happened to your friend that we met in the beginning of the school year?" I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Oh, he's kind of like Jenna, really distant." He shrugged.
"So don't you have any other friends?" I asked.
"Well yeah the guys on the football team and all, I used to hang out with them all the time." He shrugged.
"Used to?" Emily raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah. I guess since I met you guys I don't really see them out of school often. You guys are better." He chuckled. I just nodded my head.
All of a sudden, my phone buzzed.
"It's Jenna." I widened my eyes.
"What?! Read it." Emma jumped up.
"Hey Alaska... I know you may be a little confused on why I'm texting you after all this time that I've not talked to you or responded. Please forgive me. I'll try to explain some time soon I don't know. But in wondering if you're going to Sierras party." I read out loud with my eyebrows furrowed.
"Say no." Emma bit her lip.
"No say I don't know." Lucas instructed.
"Why can't I say yes?" I asked confused.
"Well maybe she'll not go of you go. So say I don't know and ask her back." Lucas explained. I nodded and texted back.
Me: I don't know yet. Are you?
It took her a few seconds to respond.
"I don't know either... Anyway I have to go bye" I read what she responded.
"Ask her what's going on." Emma suggested. I shook my head and put my phone down.
"There's no point she's not gonna answer back." I shrugged. Gaining an understanding nod from the two.
"Did you speak Jenna before we came?" I asked Lucas.
"Sometimes I said hi but she was in and out of school like she's doing now. And then she stopped a few weeks before you guys came and began again." Lucas informed.
"I don't know what she could be doing. Let's just watch YouTube videos or something." I spoke.
So that's what we did. We watched some YouTube videos until Lucas had to go home and Emma stayed a little longer.
"Dude Lucas likes you." Emma stated the obvious.
"I've been getting the feeling." I chuckled.
"What?! Do you like him back?" She questioned.
"I don't know... He's sweet but he's Lucas. You know? He's just a good friend." I shrugged.
"Ouch." Emily raised her eyebrows.
"What?" I said confused.
"You're friend zoning him." She stated.
"What?! No I'm not." I crossed my arms.
"Yes you are! I mean he likes you but you called him a friend. That's a friend zone." She sighed.
That just shut me up. I didn't want to friend zone Lucas. It was just to complicated and I honestly didn't realize on what I was doing. I really was friend zoning him.
