Everything but Jenalyn fades into the deep red filter my anger had caused. I have to silence Evelyn, who anxiously screams something to Jenalyn, before I can even try to process what she said.
I can't even help the laugh from escaping my lips. "Pregnant?" I ask, grabbing onto Jenalyn's wrist without hesitation and pulling her through the living room. Evelyn tries to pull her other wrist, still yelling something I dont even bother paying attention to- but Jena shakes her off with an annoyed glare, and still follows me crying.
"I just found out today, and I-" Jena begins to whine as soon as we make it to the hallway leading to my bedroom. I can hear her voice shaking in fear.
My heart wants to sympathize with the girl- to give her a chance to explain how I must be Jesus fucking Christ to have impreganated her when I've barely been home in damned near two months.. but I really just don't have the patience for it.
"You're a real hoot, Lil Bit." I tell her as I practically shove her into my room and slam the door behind me. "A real fucking hoot! Please tell me you were just talking out your ass to save Ev's.. please, babygirl?"
Jenalyn nervously sits on the edge of the bed, her teared eyes following my movements around the room as I get a few things together. There's a pain in my chest I have to keep reminding myself to ignore.
"No, Dane... I'm really pregnant! Please don't make me get rid of it!" she lets out another series of sobs before continuing. "I want to keep it... with you! Please, Dane... I love-"
I finish loading the three syringes I'd taken out from the shoebox in my closet, turning around just in time to stop Jena from finishing her sad excuse of a plea. Her eyes widen when they find the contents in my hands, and she instantly shifts uncomfortably as more tears stream her cheeks.
"I can't, Dane! Please, the baby-" she cries, trying to scramble up the matress unsuccessfully once I grab her ankle.
"It's not mine." I say sternly as I jerk her body back down the bed and into my grip.
My blood boils in a way that almost hurts, but I grab her arm and wrap a band around it anyway, brushing off her struggles.
"Please, Dane!" she cries, panic now piercing her voice as I bite the cap from the syringe and settle her movement with my body weight. "What is that!! I don't-"
I cut her off though she continues to cry behind the bass I add to my voice in anger and frustraion. "You're gonna feel realllllly funny, Lil Bit.. and you'll probably get a little sick too-" I tell her.
Jena tries one last time to worm her body from beneath mine before she falls limp in exhaustion. "Please.." she tries again, her chest heaving, "If you loved me-"
I push the needle into the vein prominently sticking out from her arm, and quickly but gently release the fluids into her veins before I have to hear her finish.
I can practically see the drug wash through her body. She goes more limp beneath me, and her eyes roll back into her head for a moment before just shutting all together.
A small smile spreads across her lips.
"If you loved me, you wouldn't have made me do this..." I tell her deaf ears, recognizing her far away eyes as soon as she peels them open again.
