"See, this is the fucking shit I'm talking about! I'm literally just a fucking babysitter!" I yell at myself as I climb into my truck and slam the door. "Can't even close my eyes for a couple hours without these bitches losing thier minds!!"
I woke up, and they were gone. I remember telling them they could sit on the fucking stoop! The stoop! And now they're God knows where doing God knows what- and who's gonna get faulted when Dane comes storming home?
This fucking guy.
I whip around the corner, miraculously spotting Evelyn slumped over on a park bench as I do. No Jenalyn- but they're basically inseparable anymore so I know she can't be far.
"What the fuck are you doing, Ev?!" I snap as I roll up beside her and lean over to open the door. "Where is Jenalyn? What the fucking fuck?! Can't I fucking close my eyes for an h-"
Evelyn cuts me off, slugging her way to my vehicle with tears in her eyes. "Jena ran away," she cries as she climbs in the truck and turns to me. "I know I should've said something, but she was so mad at me! I-"
I can't help but cut her off as I slam my hands down forcefully on the steering wheel. "What the fuck, Ev?!" I scream, finding a panic growing in my chest as I imagine how far Jena could've got in the short time Ev let her off the leash. "You know Dane will kill us both, right?! Jesus fucking Christ, Ev!!"
Evelyn cries harder, her hands finding a way to her face as I pull off. "She was mad at me!" she cries, "If I told on her now, she'd never even talk to me again!"
I can't even pay attention to the flubbering balls of tears beside me anymore- I quickly rack my mind for places I know Jena frequents when she attempts to 'run away,' or needs a moment.
The playgrounds in the back of Creekside immediately comes to mind. I check the playground beside the abandoned basketball course first though- of course it's not that easy. My next bet would be the swingset where that guy from Hillbrook was shot a few years back- but she's not there either. I head to the one hidden behind the condemened building, pulling into a parking spot and demanding Evelyn stay in the car as I climb out.
If she's not here, there's probably no hope of catching her without calling Dane to make some moves happen.
I do not want to have to call Dane to tell him I lost his most precious fucking jewel, I think to myself as I walk down the long sidewalk leading down to the back of the building.
As I tread closer to back of the builing, the sound of music and laughter is slowly starting to find its way to my ears. I hope to God she's not back there. I really do hope- but from what I understand from Dane.. Jena is one to search out any type of partying.
Two guys are causing all the ruckus. Standing around a picnic table with a few beers and a blunt. You can tell they're into some shit just by looking at them- probably some people I shouldn't associate myself with right now..
I can't help but think that if I know not to fuck with these guys- that it'd probably be something Jena would be magnetized toward. That just seems to be how she works.
"Ayo!" I call out, holding up my hands to show I'm not holding anything. Both men, a chubby guy and some dude with a black beanie on, stop their chattering and laughing immediately to turn to face me through the dark. "I'm just looking for someone who usually comes around here- skinny lil girl? Big head of hair? White top with a black skirt?"
Both men cross their arms over their chests and immediately grow tense and hard. "Who the fuck wants to know?" The beanie one asks, shooting me a mean mug I know means he's seen her.
Fuck.
I really don't want to have to get into anything- but I can't help myself from stepping closer to the men and hardening my tone. "You new around here?" I ask, gauging their reactions to my stepping up on them so I know whether or not to pull the pistol from my waisteband.
We're good for now, but I can tell they grow more and more tense as the moments pass. "That's none of your business." the bigger guy steps forward.
I let out a small laugh, scanning the area real quick for any sign of Jena or where she could be before I have to take it to a level I really dont want to have to. "What do you know about Dane then?" I ask after a second.
This catches their attention.
They shoot eachother a look before the bigger one sizes me up. "We know he supposedly runs shit around here, but.. I haven't seen 'em." he lets out a small laugh too. "Why? You're not tell me your scrawny ass is the big bad Dane, right? Cause that's funny.."
Again, I force a laugh and shake my head. "Nah, but if you don't want to meet him you're gonna tell me where the girl is." I warn. I know that if they know anything about Dane- they're probably aware that he's not one to be fucked with.
Everybody knows that.
Even through the dark of the night falling thojgj- I can see on their face that they don't take me seriously. They both snicker. "I don't know where she is, but I know my buddy is probably about 7 inches deep in that tight ass though!" chubby one sneers.
I get pissed. Fast. Surprisingly not even taking Dane into consideration.
I don't waste anymore time- I use my one hand to pull my pistol out quickly and whip the chubby one so hard in the nose he falls back onto the picnic table behind him. I point it at the beanie guy as soon as I know chubs is out for the count.
"Where is the girl?" I ask again- calmly despite the adrenaline rushing through ny veins right now.
His hands reach up into the air and he suddenly grows defensive. "Hey, I'm not trying to do anything like that! He's got her in the building man! Chill!"
