Evelyn is upset that she's got a run today because I told her Dane gave me shopping money. Rob told us we were heading to South Street to pick up some powder- and she automatically assumed we would hitch a ride and be able to hangout there for a while.
Until Rob let us know Dane has her scheduled with the plug.
"But I wanted to go shopping, too!" she cries out, reaching for one of the breakfast sandwiches Rob went to pick up.
I sympathize with her out loud, but can't help myself from feeling some sort of relief that Evelyn isn't going to assist me in my shopping spree today.
One- Dane has kept me on a tight leash ever since the whole pregnancy thing. I haven't been able to do anything, let alone have a day out in Philly by myself with a wad of cash! As terrible as it is, I could probably find something interesting to get into, I'm sure. It'd itch that scratch in the back of my mind. Two- she's kind of been a downer about everything involving this contest anymore. It wouldn't even be fun to shop with her at this point- she'd just make me feel bad about it the whole time.
"Im sorry, Evy.." I say, pretending to bite into a breakfast sandwich myself. "You know I'd take you if I could!"
Evelyn rolls her eyes miserably, but proceeds to tear into her sandwich as if it were the first thing she'd eaten in a year.
"We're leaving at 11, make sure you two are ready- we can't be late." Rob interjects seemingly out of nowhere.
It's been easy to forget he's even around anymore. Where he used to be a complete ass before, throwing in his two cents and snide remarks whenever he was unwanted- he's almost just a fly on the wall a majority of the time now.
I use it as an opportunity to dodge anymore talk with Evelyn about todays agenda though- jumping up from the table as if I'd forgotten something.
"Oh yeah, I gotta shower!" I quickly exclaim.
I leave Evelyn at the table- fighting off the feelings of guilt that arise in my belly as I do.
