I slip out of the bathroom, my eyes still watering from the huge line I'd set up on my phone. This drip is something serious... Dane always gets the craziest shit.
I was honestly trying not to do anything while in the presence of Harlee Gold. I mean, she's America's sweetheart, right? When I was younger, it was easier to live up to that standard- Being a good girl or whatever. I think I can accept it's not who I am anymore, though.
I've been through a lot...
Plus- she had to slip back down to the conference room on the first floor for a quick interview. I'm not like.. really in her presence right now.
"Hey there," I hear as I walk out of the bathroom, practically running into Harper as I do. "I was looking for you! Want to run out for a quick lunch while Harlee finishes up her interview?" she asks.
I don't know if my heart is pounding in my chest because I just got finished snorting a line in the bathroom, or if Harper literally startled me that much- but I clench my chest with my hand. It was probably a combination of both.
I'm definitely feeling a bit better now. Well, kind of. I wasn't really planning on eating around them until the dinner... and I had to prepare for that for a long time once I knew it was happening.
My mind, rushing on the thick line I had cut just moments ago, can't wrap my head around a response. "I, uhm-"
Harper inturrupts me before I can continue though, seemingly sensing my flustered mind. "Sorry to just pop up like that," she laughs nervously for a moment. "-but yeah! Tyler and Gage Robson, I'm sure you're familiar with them? They'll be tagging along... Up for it?"
Tyler and Gage Robson.
I've actually met them once before... back when Dane and I were actually good. He caught on to how much I loved their band, Generation Z and bought me tickets to one of their shows before I started to fuck it all up because I didn't recognize that I actually loved him. He didn't know how much I really loved the two twin brothers leading the band- but he definitely found out after.
"Oh, wow..." I mumble halfmindedly, unable to stop the memory from the Meet and Greet I scored tickets for by doing some dude a... quick favor.
"Is it too much?" Harper asks suddenly, her voice slightly panicked as if she'd offended me. "They're actually really cool dudes, I know they look all hard and all- but I mean... Ty is with Harlee- how hard could he be?"
I laugh with her for a moment, her joke on how square Harlee is kind of mixing oddly with the memory of the night I somehow ended up sleeping with either her boyfriend, or her boyfriend's twin brother..
"C'mon!" Harper urges after only a short few moments of my indecisiveness. She reaches her arm out, waiting for me to wrap mine in hers and frolic down the hallway, I guess.
I just can't bring myself to do it though. I'm sure if Dane knew that either of the Robson brothers were to attend this whole get-up today, there'd be no way in Hell I'd even be allowed to think about it..
And what if either Ty or Gage remember me? And say something?! That'd be way more awkward than I think any of us could handle.
I shrug my shoulders. "I don't know," I mumble, feeling myself start to grow hot with anxiety.
"It'll be fun- I promise! You're thinking too much into this." She says, grabbing my arm anyway and proceeding to pull me down the hall. "Despite everything, we're just regular, normal people. I think you'd be surprised at the normal people things we do!"
I laugh in my mind, but not out loud for the sake of not being rude. I was very surprised at the after party I had attended with Tyler, Gage, and a bunch of other sexually willing young girls I guess they felt like taking advantage of. I can't imagine what it is Harper thinks she's going to surprise me with.
-unless all of this is just one big hoax to get me here and interrogate me about what went down with the Robson brothers. But I really can't imagine that being the case... right?
Once we get into the elevator, Harper turns to me with an excited yet cautious smile. "Wait, you signed the nondisclosure agreement forms, right? Ivan, the bald guy, should've had you-"
I nod my head, cutting her off and watching as her smile grows in size. "Cool, cool..." she says, leaning up against the rail of the elevator with her arms crossed satisfyingly over her chest. "I think this will really loosen you up. I'm excited to get to know you, Jenalyn!"
With that, Harper winks, and then proceeds to pull her phone out leaving me to wonder what the Hell that all of meant.
I follow suit though, pulling out my own phone and pulling up my thread with Dane.
Jenalyn: I'm going to
lunch with her sister
now, just letting you
know.Dane is quick to respond, as if he'd been waiting on my update all afternoon. I know he's probably mad at me for waiting so long, but we haven't exactly been doing much..
Harlee ended up being a lot busier than they had intedned, I guess. Harper said this happens a lot.
Dane: I didn't allow
you to have a phone
today to get a text
almost an hour and a
half after your fucking
arrival.
Dane: Where are you
going? You better make
sure you're reporting to
me, Jena. I will end this
the minute you forget
my rules. No matter
where you are, or who
you're with. Don't do
anything stupid.
