The Dual

Alexandra had two weeks of training before the day of the dual had finally arrived. She was nervous, but she knew that she was prepared. Zagan, Kasdeya, and Teigra had all assured her that she'd do great and they believed in her. Even her husband had told her that she'd do great and he knew she would win.

Roshaun was also nervous, but for a different reason. He didn't want to lose. There were so many people counting on him. His wife and all four of his kids, who were anxious to see Teigra and Noam again. They missed them.

"I won't make this easy on you." Roshaun told Alexandra as he thought, 'When I win, I'm binding the powers from Teigra and Noam's demonic side.' Then he spoke again, "I'm not about to allow you to win and get my niece and nephew. You shouldn't even be alive."

"But I am alive and I'm not letting them go without a fight either." Alexandra argued

Teigra stepped in between her aunt and uncle, "Okay. On three." Then she counted out loud to three, before shimmering out of the way.

Roshaun started by attempting to throw Alexandra off by snapping his fingers and creating an illusion. He made the room look like it was a church. Churches are a place of sanctuary.

Alexandra ignored Roshaun's obvious diversion as she had been warned about this use of a distraction. She just concentrated on creating multiple clones of herself, and soon one by one clones of Alexandra appeared as they circled around Roshaun.

Roshaun was stunned by the clones surrounding him, but he still prevailed. He used his hydrokinesis power to create a water wall around himself separating the clones from himself, while he came up with a plan to win.

Alexandra saw what he did and just smiled as she closed her eyes and focused. A few moments later she opened her eyes and walked straight through the wall of water.

"Intangibility." Roshaun mumbled "Impressive, but not as impressive as this."

Roshaun put his hand up to his mouth and blew onto it. Ice particles flew outward towards Alexandra and then she just disappeared. He furrowed his eyebrows as he thought, 'What? That's not possible... unless....' His thought process trailed off 'It was a clone.'.

Roshaun was brought out of his thoughts when he noticed the water wall ring around him was filling up with water. Again, he was confused, 'How is she doing this?' He thought. Roshaun knew that he had to think quickly about what to do otherwise he would drown.

Roshaun tried breaking down the water wall, but for some reason it didn't work. And now the water was filling up faster and faster.

"Okay. I surrender." Roshaun eventually admitted as the water level was now up to his chest.

Alexandra used her augmentation power to lower the water walls and free Roshaun from his pending fate of drowning.

Roshaun extended his hand to his opponent, "Good job. You appear to be a quick study." He was thoroughly impressed with Alexandra's abilities. He had a newfound respect for her and others like her.

"Thanks. It wasn't easy." Alexandra replied as she shook his hand "You did a pretty good job yourself."

"Promise me you won't keep Teigra and Noam from me?" Roshaun asked. He knew that he lost, but the thought of never seeing his niece and nephew again just about killed him. Despite not likely that they were half-demon, he loved them.

Alexandra shook her head, "I wouldn't dream of it."

Roshaun gave a smile, "Thanks. I know that you'll do a fine job raising them." He thought, 'Maybe this is for the best. I never would have embraced their demon side.'.

"My husband and I both will. They will be loved a lot and fully embraced to be themselves." Alexandra added, "And no my husband doesn't have powers. He's mortal, but my child will have powers." Then she whispered, "I'm six weeks pregnant. I haven't told Teigra and Noam yet."

"Congratulations." Roshaun whispered back, "Children are an absolute joy. I have four daughters of my own."

Alexandra glanced over at Teigra and Noam and then looked back at Roshaun, "They are, aren't they?" That however was a rhetorical question.
