Asha's Memories

It had been a few days since Alexandra had won the dual with Roshaun. Ever since she'd found out about really being Asha Roswell, she felt a sense of frustration at not being able to remember anything except her mother's murder. Alexandra had had enough. The General had finally given her and Addison permission to take Teigra and Noam off the base, so she told Addison to take them to the park because this was the day that she decided enough was enough.

Alexandra was in the attic in the house as she configured a spell to remember what she had forgotten so very long ago. Whether intentionally or unintentionally over time.

"Show me the past I should remember, help me understand my history, so that I may fulfill my destiny." Alexandra chanted. She didn't actually know anything about her destiny, but she kind of figured that was why she was saved. Or rather why Ammon wasn't mad that she was saved.

Suddenly Alexandra was transported back in time, but she didn't go into her body. She was there as an observer. What Alexandra didn't know about spells was that unless you were incredibly specific with your word choice, something could be misinterpreted and go wrong. Or at least not the way you imagined that it would.

'Well this is not what I had in mind?' Alexandra thought 'This is great. Just great.'

Twenty-four years ago

"Grampy, no!" Malik yelled as he shielded his sister from seeing their mother get killed.

"Take care of your sister, Malik." Lamia said, "I love you both so much."

Malik sniffled, "I love you too, Mama. I will never let Asha forget you."

"I'll take care of Asha." Kasdeya told her husband as she took her granddaughter from Malik.

Kasdeya did her best to shield the little girl's eyes, but Asha peaked at the last second and saw her grandfather hurl an energy ball at her mother.

'Oh. I only heard it. I never saw it.' Alexandra thought as she sniffled, she shook her head, looked away and then closed her eyes, "No. No, I don't want to see this. Please. Take me away."

Alexandra opened her eyes to discover that she was in a completely new location. It was dark and dirty. She saw herself at four years old. She was outside of an alley with her grandmother Kasdeya.

"I remember this." Alexandra mumbled. She cocked her head to the side, "Well partially."

Twenty-four years ago

"Asha, you must never tell anyone your name. It's too dangerous." Kasdeya told her granddaughter "Some day when it's safe you will be able to come home, but right now it's too dangerous. Your grandpa wants you dead, but I can't let that happen. You are destined for greatness."

Asha sniffled, "I don't want to leave, Grammy."

"I know, darling, but I love you so much. I will never forget you." Kasdeya replied as she hugged the little girl

"I love you too, Grammy, and I will never forget you either." Asha said.

'But I do forget you.' Alexandra thought sadly

Kasdeya looked at Asha, "Some day when you come home, the family will be very divided. You will be the one to unify everyone."

'How can you know that, Grammy?' Alexandra wondered

"You promise I can come home someday?" Asha asked

Kasdeya nodded, "I promise. I really have to get back now, sweetheart."

"Bye Grammy." Asha stated sadly as she watched her grandmother shimmer away.

The older Asha sighed as she whispered, "Bye Grammy."

Alexandra was suddenly transported to another time and place. The room was pitch black and she thought, 'Okay, where am I now?'.

Twenty-five years ago

Five year old Malik Roswell ran into the room with his three year old sister running behind him, screaming 'wait for me, Mali'.

"Hurry up, Sha!" Malik called back "Let's play tag."

"Okay." Asha agreed

Alexandra smiled as she watched her younger self playing with her brother. If only she's gotten to grow up with him. They seemed so close. 'Malik must have been devastated when he was told that I was dead.' She thought.

"No running in the house." Lamia warned

"Sorry Mama." Both kids apologized

Alexandra gave a sad smile as she blinked and thought, 'Mama.'

Suddenly Alexandra found herself being phased out again to a new location. 'Where am I going?' She thought, 'I don't want to go yet.'. And just like that she was back home in the attic.

Alexandra sighed, "Well that was interesting. At least now I know."
