"Clare I have no idea what I'm doing." I groaned, wiping the sweat off my brow.

"You see that ball," he asked, nodding down to the big weighted ball between us.

After I nodded he continued speaking, "I need you to force it into my abdomen area as hard as you can—don't worry about hurting me, that's the point." He directed.

Immediately my eyes widened, "you want me to do what!"

"c'mon jay stop being soft for five seconds, it's gonna help me for the fight." He sighed.

"I'm not soft!" I retorted.

"Good, so lift that shit up hit me with it." He smirked, jumping up and grabbing the bar above him in a "pull up" like position

My mouth dropped as his abs flexed, glistening under sweat due to the desert heat.

"wow.." I said, drooling a little.

"Jay." He said sternly.

"sorry, sorry." I apologized and lifted the ball with a grunt.

"wait so you aren't gonna get mad at me right?" I asked lightly.

"Baby." He sighed, rolling his eyes a little.

"I just had to make sure!" I defended, hitting him in the abdomen with the large ball.

He let out a large grunt causing me to immediately drop the ball.

"I'm sorry!"

"See I told you I shouldn't have done that, your bruises have only just healed!" I argued gently touching his abdomen.

I looked up to see him still holding the bar, continuing to dangle dispite being hit.

"I'm good, do it again."

"no," I shook my head.

"Joshua stop being so damn difficult and do it!" He demanded.

I stayed silent and rolled my eyes, picking up the ball again. I gave him an apologetic look before hitting him.

"fuck." He groaned out, biting his lip to muffle the pain.

We continued like that for about two minutes before he finally dropped from the bar.

I threw the ball down and crouched down beside him as he dropped to his knees.

"are you ok?" I asked lowly.

He looked up at me as he heaved, sweat pouring down his face.
