"Clarence he's probably a good kid, you're not even giving him a chance." I argued taking a bite of my burger.

"Jay if this kid got involved with Rodrigo then he probably ran away, or was some dumbass out on the streets—he wasn't a good kid."

"That's not fair and you know it," I said as I stood up, wiping my hands.

"The hell you going?" He asked as he looked over at me.

"I'm going to get to know the boy you won't even give a chance."

"Joshua bring your happy ass back." He sighed standing up.

"No—" I was cut off when the door was forced shut but his hand.

I turned around and looked up at him, "Clare, please."

He closed his eyes and sighed again before opening, "ok...but I'm coming with you."

"Perfect!" I smiled, and opened the door.

I grabbed his hand and walked quickly to 13B, down the hall.

Once we were in front of it I spoke, "just—just don't be mean." I told him simply.

He looked from me to the door, without responding, "Clare!" I said adamantly.

"ok," he finally spoke.

I nodded and knocked on the door.

No Response

I knocked again

No Response

"Is he here?" I said lightly.

Before I could knock again, Clarence did—and loudly.

"Clare!" I scolded and eyed him. He shrugged and smirked, "clearly he has a hearing issue."

"YO LITTLE NIG—"
His obnoxious yelling was cut off when the door opened.

The Javier kid came into view dressed in sweats and a T-shirt looking as sad as ever.

The doctor in me was screaming to help him.

"Hi, My names Joshua, I-Uh was just coming to meet you and introduce myself." I said brightly extending my hand.

He looked down at it cautiously and then looked back up at me.

"Javier." He nodded and shook my hand gently.
